Severe Lower BackPain - Recommendation neededfor transforaminal injection
Hello,
I am having a severe lower back pain which is radiating to my leg. I have been going to Al-Ahli orthopedics and have done my MRI. It looks like I will need tranforaminal injection in my lower back. I am not totally satisified with my experience at Al-Ahli. I was wondering if any of the community member here have gone through back injection and have any recommendation. Is there any specialized spine clinic here? I was reading online that this injection can cause complications if not done correctly. So naturallly I would like to be done by some doctor who has lots of experience and is using latest imaing techniques while performing the procedure.
All respones are very much appreciated. If you had lower back pain and have sucessfully treated it somehow, please let me know. For long term I plan on starting specialized yoga for lower back, but for now I need to take care of this immediate pain.
Thanks
Thanks to the one who responded. Well.. I went to my doctor again today. Based on my MRI results (yes there are some discs issues and nerve impingement) he put two options for me.
1) Steroid injection in lower back (50 % success rate)
2) Surgery (90% Success rate)
I opted for more conservative approach and will start with physical therapy and go from there if it did not worked.
Observations at Al-Ahli beside my sickness
1) Every time you go there it is almost impossible to find a parking spot. It took me about 20 minutes to find a parking spot.
2) Every time you try to make an appointment it is at least two weeks away. The physical therapy department gave me first available appointment by the last week of June. Come on guys...
Hi, I had been through what you are going through now. I'm cured completely & so far i'm doing fine. I started my treatment in Premium Care Polyclinic (Near Vegetable Market) under Dr. Yehya Hoda.
I had severe lower back pain & was not able to stand even for 5 minutes continuosly. I started my therapy in March 2014 & did 13 session. As i said earlier I'm doing fine now.
So i would suggest is try this one time instead of going with the needle.
firstly, if your lower back pain is due to discs, it can never be healed completely. care should be taken that it does not become worse which may cause complications.
I figure your MRI scan shows disc issues? if yes, your first course of action will be physiotherapy sessions. this will significantly decrease or stop the pain radiating to your leg and the need for injection will not arise. besides, injections and surgery are the very last measures to be taken.
I have 3 degenerated discs which radiate pain down my right leg (well, not exactly pain... more like discomfort). I have had physiotherapy sessions and now the discomfort appears sometimes but is not a daily occurrence. feel a lot better now.
hope this helps.. cheers!!
If you 'r from India , take 3 weeks vacation , get it treated there in your district town & come back fully cured ........... my prayers ...... joys .............. Wed , 11.06.2014 , 08.45 hrs
