Indian schools implement reduced summer timings

Indian schools have announced a cut in their working hours by about one hour effective from this week or early next week in view of the soaring temperature.
The announcement follows a decision of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) reducing working hours of all Independent schools from the beginning of this month.
Indian schools took the decision in a recent meeting of their principals, it has been learnt.
Most schools have issued circulars to parents in this regard.
Birla Public School and Ideal Indian School implemented their new timings starting yesterday .
The schools will open at 6.45am and close one hour earlier at 12.30pm, instead of 1.30pm.
MES Indian School will also have a similar timing which will come into force from tomorrow while Shantiniketan Indian School will start the reduced timings from Sunday.
Other Indian schools are expected to follow suit though their new timings could not be independently confirmed yesterday.
