QLVG and ILQVG: Iftar Drive 2011
Before we announce the Iftar Campaign... would like to give you the good news that on our request SPEED has decided to lead QLVG/ILQVG again. Please join me to WELCOME him back to as the Manager of the QLVG/ILQVG.
About the Iftar Campaign:
It is the holy month of Ramadan and as always, it is the time to do our IFTAR DRIVE.
For the benefit of the new members - We, the members of QLVG and ILQVG distribute iftar to those who are stuck at the traffic signals and are not able to break their fast with the azaan on time.
Of course it is not possible to cover each and every signal and be there for each and every person on fast and stuck in the traffic, but we do our best to help as many as we can, in the limited resources of volunteers and packets for distribution that we have.
But unlike our previous drives, this time we shall be bigger, better and very well supported.
The toughest part of the whole process - "collection of item" is taken care of. Therefore, this time we are not collecting items from Volunteers.
Al JABER OPTICIANS have agreed to sponsor the drive. We thank Al Jaber Opticians for their kind support and assistance in helping us in making this drive bigger than ever.
This year we target to distribute double the number of bags we had distributed last year. YES around 3000 iftar packs means 15,000/- items:
1) 3000 water bottels
2) 3000 tera juices
3) 3000 small dates packs.
4) 3000 wet napkins
5) 3000 Mamoul biscuits
6) 3000 Zipper baggs
We would like to Thanks Family Food Center for donating 3000 small water bottles and 100 carrying bags.
Details for the drive are as mentioned below -
PACKING: 11th and 12th Aug'11, Thursday and Friday
TIME : 8:00 PM till 11:00 PM
VENUE: Qatar Red Cerscent (QRC) main Office, beisde Movenpick Hotel, Corniche
DISTRIBUTION DAY: 13th Aug'11, Saturday
Meeting time : 4:30 PM

This weekend was chosen, as most of our members shall soon be leaving for annual vacation and unfortunately couldn’t keep before 13th as our team members were in search of a company which was ready to sponsor the whole drive. And once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank Al Jaber Opticians for coming forward.
Looking forward to see each and every one of you on 12th and also on 13th Aug’11.
It is deeds like these which make us feel that our world is not just confined to the daily chores we are usually busy in. We as human being have immense power to touch many lives around us. We do have the power and strength in us to live "larger than life".
And with God's grace we shall be successful in doing so.
