Bollywood olden goldies versus new

I am not a big movie buff. If ever I watch hindi movies these days it is to grasp the names behind every face so that I don't feel left out on gossip when I go back home. But all these new faces with plastic emotions and zero figures are no match to the stars of yesteryears. Some of my favourite were Meena Kumari, Saira Banu, Madhubala, Sharmila....Dilip Kumar, Joy Mukerjee..... Bollywood oldies had their own styles. The actresses albeit a bit on the healthy side had this charismatic persona. A simple dialogue delivered by the actors became legendary. Some old movies are still capable of stirring a romantic mood with a hangover lasting for days. Other than Maduri Dixit I cannot think of any actress who styled her image. She is bygone as well. Am I doing justise. (Big B has his own cult following but I think it is more credit to Javed Akhtar's story lines and melodious Kishoreda which made him into a star - but don't tell this to my Mom ;-))
