Vodafone chips in for flood victims
To support the flood victims in Pakistan, Vodafone Qatar yesterday said that for each call its customers made to Pakistan from August 16 to 22, the company would donate 5Dhs to relief efforts.
Additionally, Vodafone will reduce the calling rate to Pakistan on August 14 and 15 to 55Dhs, following which the “low regular rate” of 69Dhs will apply, an official said.
“Our hearts and minds are with all the Pakistanis suffering by these floods, and with our thousands of Pakistani customers whose families are back in Pakistan,” Vodafone Qatar CEO Grahame Maher said.
“Vodafone hopes that our efforts to raise money can alleviate at least some of the suffering,” he added.
The money raised will be given to the Qatar Red Crescent which has already launched aid efforts in Pakistan, the official said.
