Rooney Pleased To Be On Top Of His Game

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is focussed on continuing his fine run of form against Arsenal on Saturday.

zoom - galleria Rooney has netted in his previous five games and has brought his tally to eight in seven games for club and country.

And together with new strike partner Carlos Tevez, the England man is delighted to be registering on such a regular basis.

"I'm delighted with my game at the minute. I'm playing well, scoring goals and we're winning games, so I just want it to keep that going," he told the Mirror.

"When you're out, as I was at the start of the season [with a broken foot], you're always looking at other players who are scoring and playing, and you just want to be out there with them.

"So it was frustrating, but I'm just delighted to be back, doing what I love most. The difference now is I'm scoring on a more consistent basis.

"In previous years I'd score for three or four games, then go three or four games without a goal. This year I've managed to do it in consecutive games, which is great. Now I feel like I'm going to score every time I play."

United travel to Emirates Stadium on Saturday, with both sides level on 26 points at the top of the Premier League.

And Rooney is eyeing payback after The Gunners did the double over United last season, notably a dramatic late win following Thierry Henry's last minute header.

"To lose two goals like that late on at Arsenal was a real blow," he added

"We led 1-0 for a while and that would have put us a long way ahead of Chelsea, who lost at Liverpool the day before," he added.

"But we know that if you lose concentration at any stage against great teams they'll punish you, and that's what happened.

"We're always determined to beat teams, especially those who've beaten you last time you played them, so Arsenal are no different in that respect."
