Pauleta Delighted With 100th PSG Goal
Pauleta has endured a tumultuous season at the Parc des Princes thus far, spending as much time on the bench as the pitch. However, he's now hit four in two games, taking him to the magic 100 with Paris Saint-Germain...
zoom - galleria Pauleta struck twice last night as Paris Saint-Germain brushed aside Montpellier in the Coupe de la Ligue for a rare home win, declaring his joy at hitting his PSG century afterwards.
The 34 year old remarked, "It's a great moment, having hit this 100th goal in four years and a few months.
"I dedicate it to the fans, to the players, and everyone who helped me score those goals."
The former Portuguese international has played a bit-part in PSG's poor start to the season in Ligue 1. Indeed, last night's League Cup win over second-tier opposition was their first win at the Parc in the entire campaign.
Even considering the lowly status of the opposition, Pauleta insists that the match was hard-fought.
"It was a difficult match against a Montpellier outfit that created a lot of difficulties for us.
"But it was good for us to win at the Parc for the first time this season, and we really gave our all to win the game."
Goalkeeper Mikael Landreau agreed, "We really needed that.
"We would have liked to have done better, but it's never easy to play teams from Ligue 2.
"But we're in the quarter finals, and that was our objective."
Defender Papus Camara chimed in, "We're relieved after being so anxious to get that first win. Hopefully it'll allow us to be more relaxed in future."
