Doha has been named the selfie capital of the Middle East in a study of the number of online selfie-takers per 100,000 of the population in 459 global cities.

The survey, presented by Time magazine, found the Qatari capital had an average of 52 selfie-takers per 100,000 residents. While Doha came out on top in the region, it was ranked 42nd overall on the list of the top 100 cities worldwide.

Dubai was further down the list at 63rd, with 41 selfie-takers per 100,000 people and Abu Dhabi was 87th with 33 selfie-takers per 100,000 people. Rounding out the top four in the Middle East, Sharjah was 92nd, which put it on par with London, with 32 selfie-takers per 100,000 people.

The survey looked at the photos downloaded onto Instagram between January 28 and February 2, 2014 and March 3-7, 2014. Only the top 459 cities with at least 250,000 residents were included.

Topping the list was Makati City and Pasig in the Philippines, with 258 selfie-takers per 100,000 people. Completing the top ten were Manhattan, Miami, Anaheim and Santa Ana (California), Petaling Jaya in Malaysia, Tel Aviv, Manchester in England, Milan, Cebu City and George Town in Malaysia.
