I went there last evening after reading this. The staff is good there. Unfortunately I have recently returned from vacation and their health policy states that the donor must NOT have travelled for at least six months coz of the risk of malaria which has an incubation period of 6 months. So I'm gonna go back and donate in june.
1. The Blood Donation Unit is NOT opposite Lulu department store. It is opposite the Kia Motors garage. The entrance is v. close (50 yards) to the Al Rayyan Road, closer than the general medical facilities. As you drive into Hamad Medical City, the multi-storey is one your left. The Blood Donation Unit is on your right.
If you try to look opposite Lulu Department store you will spend 15 minutes looking for it as I did.
2. You do NOT have to have stayed in Qatar for the previous 6 months, this is incorrect. They ask you for 6 months travel history to check that you have not visited any countries with malaria or other communicable diseases. I had been to the UK and Dubai in the last 6 months so was fine.
3. The receptionist last night told me they close at 9.30pm. Sorry didn't get the opening hours!

It is rediculus to ask them to contact you.. can't you just make a call and ask? Thanks.
Requirements to donate blood are as follows:
· You need to be in good health and feel well on the day of the donation.
· You cannot have any chronic diseases of the heart, lungs or circulatory system.
·You need to be at least 18 years old, and weigh at least 50 kilograms.
· You need to have a hemoglobin level at least 12.5 grams/deciliter.
· You need to have blood pressure systolic between 100 and 160, diastolic 60 to 100 torr.
·You need to have a regular pulse between 60 and 100, and oral temperature less than or equal to 37.5C.
·You must inform the medical staff if you are taking any medication.
