Saudi Authorities has lifted ban now a day over private cars. So you can manage to perform Umrah within your private cars. Agent which provide hajj and umrah rarely know about this issue.

assalamu alaikkum..

Dear Brother Syed,

I had been for umrah alone on my car last week and alhamdulillah went and came back without any troubles. Just stamp your visa and keep your agent informed you are going by car. You can proceed without any tension and do remember all ummah's in your dua. Insha allah.

you have to make sure before traveling. The problem is the travel agencies are not informed of any official refusal but some people said they were sent back after passing the Saudi borders.
