Offer to work in QATAR

I recently got an offer to work in qatar, I have a family with 4 kids and now in USA. I have been trying to get an idea of the cost of living in Qatar and have not been able to figure out much.

Ended up making an excel sheet with basic information. Can you guys comments on how it looks.

there are two sheets, one for salary and one for expenses. I have tried to take the high end of living cost and didnt include alot of stuff. Let me know what i am missing and maybe i will add it. I want to make sure i take this major decision after much thought. I dont have the actualy salary offer but i want to get a ball park idea to get my expectations right. Looking at this sheet, it seems i need to make atleast 25K QAR every month (in perfect world) So that would mean a wholesome package of 300k per year. Let me know how you are laughing at these numbers :)

SALARY EXPECTATION

Main Package 120,000 per year

Housing Allowance 120,000 per year

Kids Allowance 15,000 per year

i think 36k is alot to task, maybe we can home school the kids. I knwo the company will pay for 3 of the kids yearly fees, do they pay it directly to school or we have to pay those.

Also i am contemplating wrapping up here in the usa, but dont want to throw away my household stuff, the company i might work for wont give me moving help so i might have to pay for moving this stuff from usa to qatar, it is not new stuff but furniture, computer, kids toys and all sorta household stuff, not sure how much it costs to ship containers from USA to Doha but i am not sure if it is worth it to do that. I like the idea that if i did that then atleast i will have my own stuff ready to go once i land in doha and wont have to shop and stuff.

this is becoming a harder decision than i thought.

check the school fees portion from the links on this website. Some of the schools are 70,000 not 7,000 as you indicated--and that's per child.

I'm not seeing food expenses, travel and airfare, and a second car for your wife to drive the kids around. You're cutting it mighty close as it is.

Andy, i would love to work in bahrain and i spent my teenage years there but very hard to find jobs in Bahrain.

@Molten Metal: So earning 25k a month might not be enough ? that sucks.

Hi - you moving to Doha or Bahrain cause it originally says Bahrain.... That would be the cheaper option cause Doha is mega expensive
