.. Wife's justice for drinking ..

DUBAI: An Indian woman has been arrested in Oman for allegedly stabbing her alcoholic husband to death in a fit of rage.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) arrested Neena Varghese at the coastal town of Sur, about 200 km east of Muscat. The woman worked as a teacher at the Indian School in Sur.

"The lady is under arrest and her husband's body is in the police mortuary in Muscat," a spokesman for the ROP was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

According to a source the deceased was in an inebriated state when he was killed. The couple from India's southern state of Kerala often had fights over his habit.

People close to the family in Sur are now coordinating with the police and the Indian embassy to send the body back to India. Oct 29, 2013.

Efforts being are made to send the two daughters, aged 11 and 13, to India as the mother is in police custody and there is no one to look after them.

if that's the case, could she go for a self-defense plea? that way there's a chance two young girls won't be robbed of the only parent they have left. i agree, she probably just snapped.

of course killing is wrong for whatever reason and she'll probably be punished but i wasn't there when it happened so i don't think i have the right to condemn her for what she did. it's pretty naive to think a divorce or getting help to make him sober would solve anything at that particular moment when it happened (although i think she should've left him long ago, this wouldn't have happened). from experience, the behavior of an alcoholic is different from other people when they're drunk. it's not as simple as coming home drunk and throwing up on the bed. some of them behave so horribly you'd think they're better off dead.

i have an uncle who's an alcoholic and while he's so nice when he's sober, he turns into a completely different, scary creature when he's drunk and does a lot of crazy stuff. he's gone in and out of rehab a couple of times but gets back to his habit the minute he gets out. it got so bad he got fired from his government job (the probability of which is almost impossible). it's frustrating and emotionally draining to see someone you care for destroy himself like that.

As per the Indian Express ""It seems that the husband, identified as Benny Varghese, had assaulted his wife, before she unintentionally took his life," the source said."

We don't know the real story. Perhaps it was a culmination of things and she finally snapped.

instead of killing him she might have taken divorce if she really fed up with her husband's bad habits.

i guess she finally decided she's had enough. there's gotta be more to it to make her angry enough to kill her husband. like what the husband does to her or their daughters every time the guy goes home drunk.

Boxbe, I agree that alcohol being root cause for most of crimes.

But in this case it is anger which over powers humans brains and get the results which onone expects.

1. She should not have murdered him

2. Alcohol is the major cause of all this

3. The government need to be blamed to allow alcohol which proves it destroys the life of a family

The wife is no doubt a murderer and should be dealt with accordingly. Sadly I do know wives of alcoholics who often tend to get overly emotional and furious when their husbands return home drunk. Rather than seeking the proper channel of getting their spouse the help they need, the sober spouses simply try to get into heated discussions with their drunken other half, which in turn escalates into terrible disputes. Luckily non of them ended as bad as the case mentioned here, but it still is an awful thing.

Again my heart goes out to the kids and loved ones of the couple. Now they must bear the brunt!
