The world is indeed kind to those of the Western race.

Tell that to those that want to study evolution, stem cell research, genetics etc in the muslim world.

Tell that to Gallieo and others that were persecuted due to religion.

Tell that to Pakistan's only Nobel Prize winner for science who was persecuted for being the wrong type of muslim.

it was the other way around my friend when the church banned any scientific research in the west, islam helped us pursue these advancements if it was not for religion we wouldn't of contributed this much to the world

By Rip Cord• 10 Oct 2013 11:31

m3 that is very true, a lot of scientific advances were made in that period from the regions you mention building on the works of the Greeks and the Romans. The sad thing is religion in the Middle East and North Africa then killed any progress and still stands in the way even today in this region.

They should not forget the great contribution they made when Europe was in the dark ages now they are experiecing their own dark ages themselves. Time for them to come out into the light.

its funny how some people forget that when the west was stuck in the dark ages in the years between the seventh and thirteenth centuries when trade ,technology , art, architecture, astronomy, mathematics, medicine, agriculture, music, language, and learning flourished in North Africa, Asia, Southern Europe (Andalusia), and the Middle East.

do not undermine that contribution that affected our modern world positively

yes win/win.

Where else in the world can you be a 55 year old fat white man and still be considered a sex god...

Lol Rippy.

The East gave a lot of rich white men their wives.

The West gave a lot of slender asian women their husbands.

Win/Win.

There is no east and west these days.. world has become a cocktail of everything..cultures have lost their true identity but it is good I like this kind of multicultural world very much where we all live together but I am missing the taste of reality as very hardly I can find someone very close to his own culture..

At this time I like western task oriented life style and arabic relationship oriented lifestyle and eastern something in the middle.

What did the west ever do for us....

sounds like a film...

The western world gave us all English.

Western gave the rest of the world many thing like (Electricity, clean water, waste disposal, advanced science , modern art and literature as well as IT and technology to just name a few.

Western culture is progressive by nature, in that it’s always looking for solutions rather than self-pitying and self-victimization.

Always looking ahead to the future rather than being stuck in the past.

I gotta agree with Rip Cord, a lot of people want to migrate to West (permanently).. while the guys in the west prefers the east just to work because they get paid buttloads of money.

What we do know is that people prefer to live in the west in large numbers, which can be seen by the migration figures both legal and illegal.

West and East are not really geographical terms, more political terms to define certain regions/socities.

It's in the Middle East..

so technically, it is still on the Eastern Side

Mastkalandar, lets be truthful, those were westerners who "unearthed" the treasure below ground, which some people are bragging today; People still see towards west for technology;

Why dont you see a noble laureate coming from Cairo Dubai Karachi Delhi Dhaka manila Beijing but always from London, Chicago, Copenhagen ..... ? why?

People who are first in using a new iPhone or Google must have basic decency to atleast appreciate the guy who invented this burning much midnight oil while we're busy in many useless stuff.

its middle eastren fuber .. so u can say its east :-)

culturally IMHO in east we have more closely knitted to families , not only siblings and parents but cousins and uncle and aunts and treat them same like our parents ... which i simply love .... as i have seen now many of our uncle and aunts whose kids are abraod are still not lonley ... thy still have family :-)

in west i trulyyyyyy apprecaite their concern abt education despite the fact how rich or poor anyone is ... equal oppurtunity is provided...:-)

I like West for their scientific inquisition, While people killing each other (on daily basis) in East, they’re working on new medicines, new technologies, new inventions to make life easy for ALL. Dislike them for their over-materialistic approach.

I like East for their family oriented societies, social bonding & value system in life in general. I dislike them for narrow-mindedness in some aspects, staying away from education hence poverty.
