Client Approval
By mego salem •
Hi,
I have accepted offer to work in Qatar as a civil engineer, but the company told me not to hand my notice in until get the Client Approval. I have not come across this client approval before. I would appreciate your advice and any idea how long this approval will take and is it easy to get this approval?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm in a similar situation right now where after a succesful interview and accepting an offer I'm still waiting for prior client approval from Ashghal. If so what grounds. I have Ph.D. and over 25 years experience in Civil Engineering. Is it a mere formality or htey can reject you on any ground.
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for a CV to be reviewed for client approval? I had an initial interview last week and I have been told that it went very well, but cv must be sent for client approval before any further steps can be taken. DOes this look like if my cv is approved I have the job? Has anyone been through the same thing? I am a planning engineer
Thank you for your help!
Yes, client approval is generally the preferred way to work for engineering consultancies. The main reason is that companies dont want to hire someone from overseas and bring them all the way to Qatar and then find out that the client does not like them for some reasons like lack of experience, etc. Therefore, to save themselves the hassle and money, companies usually hire people officially once client has seen their CV and is happy to have them on the job. Hope this helps!
Any more thoughts
It is the time required to get your CV approved by the ultimate client (Ashghal etc.). It's for your benefit to get you approved before you hand your notice. As someone mentioned the visa process may still collapse but at least the client approval stage will confirm that the client will pay for your work lol.
Your grade and salary is likely to be based on that as well.
It took approx. 10-14 days in my case.
All,
Thanks for your answers.
I think most of the engineering roles in Qatar will require this prior client approval, I am not sure if this new process required as a standard proceduer due to the local labour law or not.
One of my friends has done the same thing and his company had to get this approval from the client and it took 3 Months to get the client approval. I don't know how long does it take to get this approval , any thoughts?
All jobs in Qatar on contingent on your getting a visa, so even if you come and go through the last few stages, your visa may or may not be approved. You would have to leave then and no compensation would be provided.
Only you can decide if you want to take that leap. Thousands are successful, but if you are one of the very few who are not it can be devastating.
Yes, true they should get prior approval from the client or Consultant before they are able to hire you, means a copy of your CV is sent to them as well and you might be interviewed by them too..
Sounds like good advice from your employer
No , it's client approval which is approval should be taken from the main project client before starting the visa process.
