cost of 3+ bdrm villa in Doha?
Hi.
I've come across many posts on this website re: cost of villas... Some ppl say 10K QAR is enough to get smth decent, others say it's 20 - 24K and up. I'm trying to figure out whether the package that I'm being offered (http://www.qatarliving.com/node/7608631) is sufficient. (I'm currently living in Toronto, Canada).
The package offered provides for housing expenses (paid in cash) of ~16K QAR per month. Is that 'more than enough' to find a good villa in Doha close to a good school (I've heard Beverley Hills Gardens compounds are good and they seem to be close to the potential future place of work)? Or this is the bare minimum that it will cost?
Also, re: the villa prices posted on the internet... Is there any 'catch' I should be aware of? (one thing that i found out - in some cases there is a 'finders fee' worth of 50% of the 1 month rent) Is the property advertised at the price advertised are really available? Or it is quite common to run into a surprise, like 'we've just rented that property out, but we have another one just like that for 3-4K more'...
Would greatly appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Steve
PS: I know this question has been raised over & over again, but what's the avg everyday expenses you might be looking at for the family of 2 adults, 1 teenager? I mean expenses for groceries, parking, clothing, etc (our lifestyle is such that we don't buy Armani or Gucci every day if you know what I mean, but like to enjoy good healthy fresh food and good quality cloth).
PPS: it might be useful if a few ppl share their last month total expenses...- I find it the most realistic to use this kind of heuristic and average the expenses out across a number of representative samples.

xyzeter, you might be able to find a decent place for 16K.
As for your remark, "Some ppl say 10K QAR is enough to get smth decent, others say it's 20 - 24K and up", - it is the same situation in Toronto, as well as in the entire world. House prices depend of tens of factors, so I am not sure why you find it contradicting. Also living standards are different for different categories of people.
The best way to figure it out is to stay in Doha at some temporary accommodation for 1-2 weeks and to explore the market by yourself.
