Noise from construction all night (west bay)

Anybody in the area of W hotel, beach Tower, Governor is suffering from the construction noise next door?

Again last night they kept drilling all through the night, I went to tell them to stop at 3.30am they said they would but carry on.

It was actually only two people, one operating a crane and another a heavy duty drill.

Do they have any authorisation? I got some paper from them but cannot read Arabic.

If they don't I will call the police next time

Paul, beach Tower

Well, it is a construction, and for sure they obtained permit for that, and any noise that could possibly heard maybe be just part of the construction, that is normal and you have nothing to do with it, however, you have the right to complain if they are still working on Sunday, that may disturbed your traditions and culture.

A 24 hour problem requires a 24 hour pharmacy selling a good pack of earplugs. Worked for us.

pgerhard, you must be kidding, right? complain about what? you want to complain to THEM about developing THEIR country? Really??

And WHY do you think YOU are in Doha? Isn't it because the entire country is under construction? It is not a French Riviera, sorry..

..if it was not under construction, you wouldn’t be able to make your ‘big cash’ here… so relax, and take it easy.. buy earplugs and sleep tight..

it's too easy, and not the way to change a system which obviously does not work.

Plan construction better and be more efficient, pay employees better and achieve better production rate. Hire professionals and not loons.

Then enforce a law that unless there is a good reason (being late isn't one) there should not be works at night, on Fridays and holidays.

It's simple to change the system!

it is probably illegal, but in the time it takes you to find the right authority/person to shut them down at night, the construction will be finished. see ulus.gurels post above. Typical Doha scenario and not worth your effort or time. Buy some ear plugs or move is all I can advise.

So i asked one of my colleague to translate the paper that I was shown when I went to complain. It is quite hilarious: it's a document issued by the traffic dept allowing them to close the road at night and that 'work should happen within the perimeter of the construction site'

However, this is from the traffic department only to close the road, it's no permission to work at night!!!

this is the construction site between W, beach tower and billal tower opposite of City Center

I do have same problem just next to my flat. Heavy noises during the entire night for the duration of minimum 8 months and I guess still will go on for another year. I called the police several time and they do always come to investigate but every time they come the Forman shows them an authorization issued from the municipality allowing them to work over night. Then I approached the municipality and their advice was to contact the central security department; than central security department advised me to contact the municipality and so on. SO I GIVE UP…..

and what the police is going to do?

it's a work/construction site,. to keep on track the work on shifts,.to catch up,.noting new in the construction world,.

only solution,.in my opinion,.move to a place in town with less contstruction activity,.
