ASPIRE PARK - What is the point?

TripoliAli
By TripoliAli

I took my kids to Aspire Park this weekend. Was told that I could not escort them on my bike...they had to ride on their own and I needed to run behind them. What ridiculous rule is this.

Next, what is this about below the knee sportswear??? What kind of sportswear is this? I sweat a lot when I;m chasing after my kids on their bikes and below the knee does not allow enough ventilation?

I cannot understand the purpose of this place...they have a rock climbing wall that noone is allowed to use.

Is it all for show, or do people actually get to use any of the wonderful facilities which are apparently there?

Ahmad Mansour:

"it is about time you guys man up and stop acting like p*ssies.."

So if you were reading posts/opinions of some ladies of QL (say Fatima for example), how can these ladies "man up" and "stop acting like p*ssies..."

Manner is the key word here

Maybe, but we must hold onto optimism!

Was the guy raving mad? What a strange situation indeed. Obviously this Aspire park is overrun by a bunch of weirdos and racists, and much as I love their water features and quaint lil cafe, I think I'll just stay completely away from the "zone"

I get your point! Truly a pointless situation.. Masalaama habibthy.

Hi,

I went last Friday with my family and my 5 year old girl

was playing with a little plastic boomerang. We were the only people around that area at that time and Suddenly a Local came in one of those electric cars shouted in Arabic and took the little ones toy and went. Still I don’t understand why he did that and the little one was shocked and her whole evening was spoiled....:(

Lafta,

With all due respect although non is due to ones like yourself.

Non of the statements you wrote so far makes sense or is associated with reality. Whether you call yourself sarcastic or realistic or any other contradictory word within the spectrum of your vocabulary. Do yourself a favor and never even get close to IQ levels of people, because anything you say might and would back fire at you.

Let others decide on that one...

Deportation?

You know something, it is about time you guys man up and stop acting like p*ssies..I have the right to talk and express the reality like my eyes see it.

Deporting me would not harm me.

It's all entirely random and nationally/racially based when the rules are enforced. Very ridiculous and another reason why expats complain about living in Qatar.

Qatar is probably the most ironic place on this planet.

-Professionalism

-Rules

-Human rights

-Cornich of 6 Kms with only ONE place to buy water or juice

-Parks that you are not allowed to use

-Places you can not enter on weekend if God forbid you are single

Sometimes, I just wonder where all this can lead...

one rule only

NO RULES!!!

There are places around the Khalifa stadium in which you are allowed to ride your bicycle, but please, don't do it around the lake. Having kids makes it kinda difficult for people to walk, if we add the adults it would be just impossible.

On the dress code issue, I think that is not a problem anymore. I already went twice and have seen many people, especially women with sports gear (and shoulders uncovered) and also men with casual wear.

Next, what is this about below the knee sportswear???

A: Their country their rules.

B: I always jog around the park wearing “Above knee sportswear”, Never had any problems with that.

C: In a crowded and dark park like the Aspire, It’s safer for the kids when they ride their own bikes, under the full parental supervision. “Just the obvious”

D: you just nag way too much.

E: Have a good day.

Is it all for show, or do people actually get to use any of the wonderful facilities which are apparently there?

Answer: No, it is not all for show.

Yes, people do use some of the facilities. Others are actually for show.

Problem: Advisors and "visionaries" get Qatar to build these facilities at great expense, but then there is no real commitment to support / maintain the initiatives.

TripoliAli, As per your profile you are not new to Qatar and I think you should be aware of all the rules here.

I don.t complain. This was just some questions because I don't understand. I was happy to get in my car and pollute the air some more by driving to the corniche. Where my little girl was very happy because the air did not smell like sewer at Aspire zone.

If I complain it would be something like "I was nearly hit by small girl riding her bicycle in Villagion yesterday " but Yes, Yusuf I know there is no point in that because she is probably from family of privilege and I am nobody who just came here to do job.

Qatar is good in building buildings (because only money matters). Qatar is bad in filling the buildings with life (because money can't buy happy people and a sound social climate)!

yes and one more rule is that you cannot take pictures on a tripod there. So dont bother try capturing any night time shots. I havent been there in a long time but i guess thats what the management wants. STAY AWAY.

With all the bad publicity it has been getting in the recent months, I'm surprised people still bother to go there. Truly it's notorious and scandalous to say the least, judging by all the accounts, and those are not adjectives I like associating with anything specially parks! Thus best avoided...

welcome to aspire park..... :-) ... i think thy should just place a sign "please dont bother to come here" ... they have millions rules .... n park is now suffocating despite of fresh air

It is a rules put by people who manage the park, so it is good to respect that. As you know you are in Muslim country and there are certain things that should be followed, like dress code and so on. I am sure there are many local who complain about the dress so they put this condition, so do it or go to other places where you can wear whatever you want. No need to complain, because whatever you say nothing will be change. Cheers.
