Expatriates 'most keen' to leave country

Nearly a third of expats working in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman are seeking to leave their adopted countries, local website arabianbusiness.com reported on Wednesday citing a HSBC survey.

34% of expatriates in Saudi Arabia want to move out of the country, followed by Qatar (30%) and Oman (29%), the website reported citing HSBC's Expat Explorer Survey.

"This suggests that many expats always intended to move to the region for a set period of time, potentially to take advantage of the higher income available, before moving elsewhere or back to their home country," the survey added.

The same Ol'story , people going to other countries, make bucks and get back, that's exactly why Qatar don't give nationalities away anymore.

When you get residency in the middle east it is linked to a single job and not many people opt to stay in one job for life. There is also no job security out here so you could be out with no warning. When you get residency in other countries you are generally not tied to one place and there is not such a feeling of insecurity. Makes a whole lot of difference I reckon.

Isn't that what expats usually do? Work for a while and then move on.

I can't see anything unusual or country specific there.

at the end of the day money is not all that matters and lots of people this days are making the right decision to move on instead of becoming another statitic out here
