Any thoughts on this

How would you feel if your close childhood friend of the opposite sex suddenly found you through your FB profile and sent a message saying “Thank God I found you again…I have been looking for you for the past 10 years.”

This happened to me a week back. These words have set me thinking if she meant something deeper. Here in Qatar, for the last three weeks I am seeing someone for a long term relationship though I have not proposed to her yet. On the other side, I have literally lost my sleep since the day I have seen my childhood friend’s pictures on her profile. She has now grown into an attractive woman from the chubby cheeked crybaby that she was. She wrote she was still single and wanted to know about me as well. We are regular in messaging each other and I feel myself getting closer to her.

I am in Qatar and she is in India, the country where I have grown up. My job is new here and I have no plans to return to India. I find I am in the middle of a cross road.
How would you guys have dealt with the situation ethically? I don't know what to do. I like both of them but cannot decide whome am I in love with.

“Thank God I found you again…I have been looking for you for the past 10 years.”

Great pick-up line! I bet you had butterflies in your stomach when you read that.

I suggest you cool off your 3-week romance with "Qatar girl" before you hurt her and plan a vacation to India to meet with "childhood friend" just like Osama said. If the two of you click then mafih mushkila. You will hopefully live happily ever after:)

I would prefer someone who likes me enough who've searched for me for 10 years! :)

Stop drinking Pepsi for a few days. It may help...:)

On a serious note...just go for the long lost friend cos being with someone by your side (ur GF here) if you can think of someone else, you for sure aren't into her. But tell her frankly and get going. All the best in whatever.

in my opinion, go to india for short leave & C the girl face to face & u can compare the comfort level while speaking and sitting with each one.

then take ur parents opinion.

finally listen to ur heart but don't decide based on photos, msging & phone calls, eye contact is required in this case

and the most important is: don't take long time to decide coz u don't want to brake anyone's heart.

good luck

& this way value of women is going up - falsely.

Because one man is seeing two women at a time, you know.

One of the benefits of being a muslim here is that you can marry up to four wives at any one time. So there is no need to choose between them. But good manners would include introducing them to one another and letting them know the situation.

Relationships are like Dove-Tail joints. If the fit is good, its because you are good for her and she is for you.

OK.. So, you've told her that you're communicating with someone else..

Britexpat, I think you are reading between the lines. I have specifically said, I was seeing someone here for the last three weeks for a long term relationship. I have not proposed to her yet.

Now, how does she become my long term girlfriend? Our acquiantance is only three weeks old!

ambiguous, I said I was seeing someone for a relationship here and I haven't yet proposed to her.

I can tell you we haven't yet become intimate or made any promises or commitments.

How do you compare my situation with that of a married man?

By britexpat• 26 Aug 2012 19:13
britexpat

OK.. Key sentences ..

"I am seeing someone for a long term relationship though I have not proposed to her yet."

"I have seen my childhood friend’s pictures on her profile. She has now grown into an attractive woman from the chubby cheeked crybaby that she was."

"We are regular in messaging each other and I feel myself getting closer to her."

"How would you guys have dealt with the situation ethically? "

Firstly, ethics have gone out of the window, because you're communicating with her behind your long term GF's back.

Secondly, you're interested because she's now a good looking woman.

My advice. Tel your existing GF not to wait for you. Then see where life leeds you.

why would you be confused? you say you're in a relationship.. imagine if this happened when you were married! what? you'd think of divorcing her??

In your case, you are a man, you must be financially stable. since your job is new here, be sensible and think logically.
