If you ever get bored and want to go fishing, just start a thread about alcohol on here, it doesn't take long for people to start biting!
The way I see it is that we just like different things. On a weekend evening back in our countries, people are going out, queuing up to get into bars/clubs to drink and socialize. Here, people queue up to get into shopping malls to shop and socialize. So we are quite similar in ways!
I must admit, I do find it quite amusing when you see a local in national dress with prayer beads in one hand and a pint in another ogling at all the girls in short skirts.
Anyway, back to the main topic, I am going going out for a few drinks tonight. Will ring a couple of hotels beforehand to make sure they are back to normal first.
First off, ramadan was over yesterday when the new moon was seen in Mekka at 1805, so I dont see how I was disrespectful or trying to raise your anger. Second, I see just as many Qataris and Arab Muslims out at the bars drinking as I do expats. Third, Dubai is a muslim state and is consider to be one the top party cities in the world. And when muslims travel to western countries all rules go out the window and they over indulge in their "sinful" ways.
I would suggest you are the narrow minded one my friend. These people want to consume alcohol that is free to buy in Qatar and as long as it does not infringe on your rights I see no reason why you should complain. When you visit a foreign country you want to eat halal food, which in nearly every country in the world you can do even if it is against their traditions.
You need to have respect for your fellow humans and their choices in life
It looks like people try to find any reason to get angry. If they want to drink let them drink, it isn't like they are enforcing it on you... SMH *sigh*
I've surprised myself and still have some drink left, I did get quite a lot just before Ramadam, but went to a couple of parties as well so think I've done well!
Ramada and Sheraton said as of right now they wont serve til tomorrow night but that it might change after sundown. They told me to call back around 1830.
