QNB Worst Bank in Qatar

Jeremy Andrew

Operations with QNB have closed since Yesterday with QNB. Very poor services recieved from them. Call Center Supervisors dont call back. they make promises and dont keep to them. It actually makes sense as to why they need to advertise so much. Any one new coming to QATAR, DONT USE QNB...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE QNB BANK

The worst bank I have experienced in my life.

I have been suffering with this bank since 3 and half years ago. I know.. stupid me to stay that long with them.

This are not straight forward. I transferred an amount to my account in the US, and paid the fee upfront, to be surprized that I have received USD 18.20 less as a fee, which I did not authorize or will accept, even though I have paid the fee prior to sending.

This is absolutely cheating activity. I called and complained, but no result. They saying middle bank took the money... that is bad. I will close my account and go to another bank.

Terrible service by QNB. My employee waited for 2 hours in the sun in the long queue to submit a form. Which was a signed authorized form. The representative asked an authorization letter to submit the authorization letter?!?!

and the reply was - now you go. Come tomorrow.

QNB loan sales division is simply the best(Sarcastic) , you ask them about any service, they have no idea on what they are saying or doing. @TarikIlyas u r spot on mate i contacted 3 sales person and all the 3 spoke me and informed me differently.

They'll give you an appointment and never turn up, they are so good in lying, we wasted almost 5 days waiting for one sales person who fixed an appointment to come see us.

On top of that one sales guy named Rumel(Filipino) told me that he is doing us a favor by giving us loan, wow that was simply pathetic which no other bank people can ever tell you. I have never heard or personally got insulted by any bank sales people like this before. Cause of this guy iam sure that banks name is getting spoiled.

You have the choice between a rock and a hard place when it comes to services in Qatar. Their customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my entire life. If you ask one person about something and then I want the same thing from another you get to completely different answers, don't even dare to ask a third person because they will tell yiu something even different than the other two. You are just wasting your time. Still I had my bank account with them for almost two years and they were okay as long as you don't need to ask them something and want nothing but transferring your money... all over Qatar people need to be trained way better!

Having tried commercial bank, doha bank, IBQ, HSBC and QNB....NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in qatar comes even close to how good QNB is....not even with a 20% margin!!!!

I have had no problems with QNB. In fact, I'm very impressed with the service recieved, excellent customer service, fast service. I have heard nightmare stories about some of the other larger banks. Compared to the UK, QNB are extrememly more efficient.

Sorry to know about your ordeal at their hands.

I had salary a/c with HSBC for a total of 19 years in UAE and now with QNB for the last 4 years .. all in all very good experience.

Hope that fellow - colleague won't suggest you on anything else in the future ..

OK so I landed in Doha nearly 3 months ago, and, on the advice of a fellow-colleague, joined Commercial Bank. I was told my Cash Card and PIN would be sent to my PO BOX. I would check daily the PO BOX at work but it never arrived. I would then have to drive to the bank after a day's work, take a ticket and queue up to be told: "I don't know, it is not on the system"...or.."yes it is in process"...or..."it has been sent to your PO BOX". Finally when it obviously was not coming, again another visit, more queuing, more keyboard tapping and now ..."have you checked the Central Post Office?". Exasperated , I would ask where the central post office was, but I was merely met with a shrug of the shoulders that they did not know. When asked was my card / PIN definitely there the answer was a spectacular "For sure, for sure, maybe it is at the Central Post Office". So a trip to the post office ensued and I now had a functioning cash card - not bad, only several visits to the bank after work and hours queueing later.

The same nearly to the letter happened with my cheque book; I thought I had been smart getting the customer service person to guarantee to me it would DEFINITELY go to my PO BOX. The only mistake I made was believing them again...several times. And yes, weeks later it was found at the post office.

So onto more recently; I am looking into a car / personal loan and I find out (like extracting teeth at Commercial Bank) that their rates are 1% higher than QNB!!! So I decide to close my account. And I am told that I must get a Clearing Letter, which simply is a record that I do not owe Commercial Bank any monies (which I do not). This letter will take 7-10 WORKING DAYS?!?!?! I argue this is ridiculous but save your breath - it gets you nowhere. So a week or so later I find myself back in the regular after-work queue, am told it has been passed across to another department and they are not responding!! The bank manager was actually a decent guy whom I actually felt sorry for - you could tell he knew the level of service was worse than pathetic. He even told me that it was unacceptable and that the hold up was likely because they were delaying things to try to keep me as a customer!!!!!???!!

I have been across to confer with the QNB and (I have only basic visits to compare with), the queuing has order, the queues are very small (I waited less than 5 mins on every visit) and I was given simply all info that I requested by what seemed like, well-informed staff.

So my verdict on Commercial Bank: STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME, MONEY & SANITY; their Service is terrible (and I mean terrible), the queues are far too long (sometimes 45 mins wait - bring a book), they are misinformed, they regularly misinform you the customer as a direct result, their interest rates are inferior to competitors, and when you want to leave (legitimately) they simply don't process your exit in order to keep you there.

QNB on face value have well-informed staff, nice branches inside, free wifi whilst you wait, short queues, better loan interest rates, and generally a more helpful environment, exactly what you would expect from a bank.

If this helps just 1 person not to have to go through the crap that I have been through above, it was well worth while. Good luck :-)

QNB is the worst bank in Qatar. Even after more than one month of account opening, they did not send me my ATM Card. When i applied temporary card from Card cetre, they issued me pin number wrongly in two times. Now I fed up with this bank and looking for the way to escape. Their right hand does not know what the left hand doing. They issue visa cards from card centre and ask to go to the Branch to collect ATM card. When I go to the Branch to collect ATM card, they lost it and applied again. But, still they did not release the card.

Call Centre personnel says one thing while card centre people says another. Most of the customer service personnel do not know correct proceduires or practices. They release the loan to the account and freezed the account for almost half a month waiting some documents but charging the interest for that half a month also.

I was doing some mystery shopping for majority of banks in Qatar, and from my experience i would say QNB is the best among the worst (As sonofqatar said).

Saxtor every bank has few happy and plenty of frustrated customers here so take a chance on the name you like most.

I use CBQ and frankly haven't had any problem with them.

you have to experience Mashreq to really get the ultimate bad banking experience. Their internet banking (best in the middle east??) absolutely just sucks! Will be shifting my account directly after Eid.

HSBC Premier is good, CBQ awful and they tell lies, not just to me but also my friends. Even when you point out its in the terms and conditions on THEIR own website, they say that it's changed. Glad I changed a year ago

I had a similar problem with QNB. Called customer service about an issue with internet banking several times, got fobbed off with different excuses each time, so raised a complaint and no-one called me back. Rubbish.

HSBC, OMG! That was the absolute pits! Suffered with their lack of customer service (and I didn't just call, I lined up for hours several times to get some service ... nada!) for nearly a year till I switched to CBQ.

CBQ was so much better in their customer service. There were a few mess ups but nothing really major and whatever issues were sorted out pretty quickly.

As is always the case in Qatar you cant and will not be able to accomplish anything by telephone calls you have to go there. I dealt with many banks in Qatar and i can assure you that QNB is the "best" among the "worst", if you know what i mean

They are the largest bank in the country. They pride themselves on customer service. If you are having issues keep records of who you have spoken to, and escalate the issue as soon as you can. I assure you, you will get heard and if necessary someone will get a talking to. And no I don't work for them. But when I have complained in the past, action was swift and thorough.
