Moving to Doha for 4-5 months with kids
By Jordanandkylie •
My husbands work would like to send us to Doha ASAP until January. We have a very active 2year old and 7 year old and I'm concerned about finding a suitable medium term place to live.
He suggested we look at a serviced apartment but my boys are used to running around outside everyday, are there any apartment buildings with great kids facilities?
Are there any compounds that would be suitable for us?
My husband will be working in west bay.
Thanks!!
Ezdan definitely. You might also benefit from the gym and the sauna and all that kind of facilities. You even have a dvd shop.. It's a good place.
There are few compounds with furnished apartments or unfurnished, and your kids can run around, there is the Rayyan compound (has villas and apartments) and one behind the landmark center but I forgot the name. Its a massive one you wont miss it. We just moved and in order to find the right house we rented a car and just kept driving around using the phone map. Good luck
If you stay in a serviced apartment, there will likely be a swimming pool but that is all. Keeping them entertained will require getting in a car and going to various parks and playgrounds around the city. Doha is not overloaded with parks, but there are some and generally they a pretty good. Heat is the primary downside. Most malls have indoor amusement parks, but these get old after awhile too.
The largest compounds have decent facilities--playground, family pool, clubhouse and tennis courts.
My sense is that it would be mildly difficult but not impossible and you may enjoy the experience.
Ezdan towers in west bay would be best choice...for short term residence.
10 riyal for taxi I meant
Plus a supermarket in the towers so u can use that for bread water etc
Look at Ezdan towers in west bay if u want serviced apartments and not villas
We r here with 2 very active boys
And have been here for 2 mths
Which seems impossible being on 20 floor
But they have Olympic size pool and a kiddie pool for those who can't swim and also a playground with swings and slides
And a lot of room to ride bikes and scooters all around
Of course u can't or shouldn't let them go down by themselves
But it's great for boys
In mornings and late afternoons or eve
Hope that helps
And my husband works in west bay too
And there is a shuttle from the towers to city centre free everyday
Or it's only 10 riyal
U can't beat that :)
Good luck
furnished/serviced apartments are not suitable for active kids, hopes you will find nice stand alone villas near west bay
