Health Card-Qatar

Hello,

We would like to enquire about the health card we obtain from medical centers after getting the RP. Once we get the health card, can we go to any hospital or is it just Hamad? Also what are the timings to obtain the health card during Ramadan?

Health card issued by the government will be valid for one year & can be renewed online on yearly basis or more. It is valid only with the government hospitals & health centers. Now for private hospitals/clinis, you need to get enrolled privately or thru your company for separate private or campany health insurance coverage to avail the services of such private hospitals & clinins. First get your governement health card nearest to your place of residence. Or let your company PRO apply it for you. You can apply & have your card issued in the morning office hours, or since it's ramadan, try in the evening hours.

Timings suck! You need to be there before the center opens. literally! they might tell you otherwise but perhaps when you go there they will ask you to come again next morning. this is the state of customer service in Qatar and we cannot do anything about it.

About where to visit after obtaining the card, you can only visit the Primary Health center (PHC) mentioned on your card.

You can visit Hammad Hospital only in case of real emergencies.

For children, you can also visit the Paedriatic center on Al-Sadd but be preapred for long queues.

For other hospitals like rumeilah etc, you need to obtain referal from the PHC. Also applies for visiting Hammad for non-emergency situations.

Hope this helps.
