dear friends,
i have booked my flight to london for 1st august 2012. but not yet applied for the uk visa as i was waiting for some papers. experienced people ,please let me know the procedure for visit visa application. applying online or going to embassy, which one is advisable? i need visit visa for my wife too. the embassy website is a mess. should i have a scanned/soft copy of all the documents before start applying online? is there provision to stop and proceed at later stage? and once i submit, when will be the interview and how many days it take usually to get the visa? i have exactly 3 weeks in hand.

You need to book an interview thru that website given and for the reasons mentioned you are going to struggle to hit the 3 weeks deadline - when I applied a couple of weeks ago they were already booking interviews a month in advance.

Please go thru this website. They handle the visa for U.K. You have to apply online and can stop and resume filling the form any time. You have to also book an online appointment for visa.Due to the summer and Olympics rush, it may be touch and go.....but I think you can still get the visa before your travel date. Good luck.
