The Northern Lights
By Knight Returns •
This year the Northern Lights are being seen quite frequently possibly due to the increased solar winds..
Sharing some pics that I received from a friend who happened to get it from someone who was actually camping in Northern Canada to shoot these beautiful images.
Yes, there will probably be a decent Aurora display whenever I’m passing by there. :O
Awesome pictures
Wow, so magical. Beautiful.
Tout simplement magnifique..... :)
Simply Beautiful..
from northern Aberdeenshire but obviously not as clearly and only in the distance. There were some days earlier in the year when they could be seen.
thanks for sharing your junk mail...
These pictures are from 2009. It looks like a hotel to me. I think they are from Yellowknife, Canada. Where ever that is... And maybe you are only two degrees of separation...

I am too tired to make a hyper link for it.
if oxygen particles are ionised, they give green to brown red light,
Nitrogen gives blue to red.

I have seen multi-colored auroras and some amazing fuchsia displays.

That's right drsam..When the charged particles from the sun get directed to the poles by the earth's magnetosphere and reach the atmosphere, they create electromagnetic waves in the visible spectrum. Amazing...but I wanna know why the colour of the discharge is always green. Is it because green's wavelength is somewhere in the middle of that of the visible spectrum?
aurora borealis
wow!
Very very beautiful !!
