Generally people (people who can walk) use wheel chair facility so that the guy pushing it can take care of the immigration, security, etc etc procedures at the airport cos of their ignorance, fear, nervousness being travelling the first time. Once past those hurdles, yeah hurdles, they relax and get up and walk, nothing wrong in that. They pay to get served.
Wheelchair...yes, see, every time I travel I see loads of Indian people( I know they are Indian because all the ladies wear saris) being carted around in wheel chairs.
Funny thing is...once past the long queues they can magically walk!!!!
Sorry for late reply,Friends Actually I bought a ticket with one of my friend coming from Mumbai on 20/04 but unfortunately because of his personal reason he postponded his date ,I am worried about my mother in law who is old & flying first time in her life,I just want someone to accompany her to guide for baggage checking counter,Immigration form filling, direct to gate no.I know ground staff will help her but still she is little nervous,I also search Mumbai airport but they do not have service like Al Maha or Marhaba.I think I have to rely on Portar now who will guide her until immigration,
Just use the Marhaba service available to book in advance at the airport here. About in India, you need to talk to the airport staff there to find out if they have such a service available.
I really don't get why people make such a fuss about this,,Marhaba service is well known, and it is also well known that you can talk to the airport personnel to find out.
Sometimes it help to have a little initiative yourself...and NOT expect others to do your work for you.

Wheelchair assistance in airports is free. Tips are accepted.

Prism, so THAT is how this works!!!
And here I thought those wheel chairs were for those truly not being able to walk!
How very ignorant of me!
Thanks, I now know what to do to avoid those queues!
And I will make sure that ALL my family members, uncles, aunties, cousins and of course baby will not have to stand in the queue either!
Hopefully not all those wheel chairs will be in use by those not needing them , leaving those who DO need them in the lurch.
They pay to get served...... :(

It is a bit of a pet peeve of mine....
Try booking a wheel chair. The airline with which she is traveling would have the procedure for it. They will take care of everything then.

Actually, passenger manifests are security-restricted. And for good reason! If I don't know you, I'm not about to tell you who is on which flight.
