Vacation Intl' SCAM??

I took a vacation offer by a company called Vacation International after visiting their office in Awqaf building next to HMC HR and going through a grueling 90 mins intense and pressurised marketing and ended up paying a 6000 QR down payment of 18000 QR. Now when I browsed the net about their service, i find that QL is full of negative remarks abt them . I am thinking of taking the matter to the authorities. However not a single person who have posted abt them has mentioned how these ppl cheat.. like
- do you not get the promised offers?
- Did you have to cancel a planned trip bcos of them?
- Were the hotels they mentioned not 5 or 4+ stars as they claimed?
- Did you have to pay anything extra at these hotels?
-Did anyone cancel their contract and have to pay 40% as they mentioned in their contract paper?

Any concrete answer from people affected will help to forward with complaining in the Consumer Protection Department.

Hi all,

If any of you is a victim of their fraud my humble suggestion is to report it to the Consumer Protection Department of the Ministry of Business and Trade. Their email is cpd/-a-t-/mbt.gov.qa. They are very helpful and can get you a refund. I wrote to them and GOT MY MONEY BACK!!!

I went to centre point Barwa village last week. And just come out of nowhere this egyptian guy asking me about vacation...holidays blablabla.. and then some key words like voucher..Dubai..holidays blablabla.

To end his promoting talk, he then asked me to come over to their office at the Bank Street for some small party with other families that agreed to come.

Back in my country...scams like this are like...pins on the floor! So I just walked away while saying..." Sorry, I can't afford it. Low income earner!"

I think they hypnotize you.

They invited us by frequent calls for an unknown family event with my kids, claiming our kids will enjoy there...It is a long story but at the end of the day we have been fooled by 2500/-.

In the early last year I attended their marketing campaign of "Vacation Int'l" and got the free hotel voucher for 3days in Dubai. I used this last January without much extra payment, but some reasonable amount for food. The hotel and food was OK. I didn’t take their membership, so don’t know how good their packages.

If you cancel the contract then you need to feed their mouth with your money again.

Suppose you have paid them 6000QR as down payment, next day if you cameback to them and want to cancel, then you have to add them more money 1200QR to complete the 7200QR (40% of 18000QR), by then you contract will be cancelled. And you get zero riyals returned.

I could not imagine how stupid of myself can be trapped that easy by them.

Wikileaks I know someone who utilised it, thats why I said, for the amount that you pay up you can get the same hotels whether 5 star or 4 star for half the price that they are offering.

By the way, how sure it is a scam? Have you tried utilising it? Back at my country, there are similar companies operating whereby you are required to attend a 90 min presentation. In the event that you decided not to join them, they will give you a 3 days 2 nights stay at one of their resorts as a token. Normally in this case, although you get the voucher you may not able to utilise it due to the limitation of the resort . ( Eg: 1000 vouchers given away but only limited rooms available ) , thus creating complains that it's a scam & they are unable to utilise the free hotel voucher.

However, if you joined them, then it's a diff side of a story. If you do plan in advance, booking a resort is not a prob. I have been on a time share since 2002 and has been utilising it every year since.

Since you already paid, try to use it & you will soon find out whether it's a scam a not. Best of luck

not exactly a scam. but you do pay a premium for the stay in hotels. You can get rooms for half the amount that you pay to them in the same hotel.

Uh oh. Consider it a 6,000 riyal lesson. Don't give them any more! Is it a time-share type deal? http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/vacation-international-c457401.html
