Are you living in CHAOS?
The full form of CHAOS is "CANNOT HAVE ANYONE OVER SYNDROME"..
I recently witnessed a shifting process of a couple. I have been so pained that I am sharing this.
There was no planning from the couple. The movers just came in, pulled out stuff and dumped them all over the new house.
Now they are sniffing and pulling up bags and boxes of rotten food, fish, meat, etc from all over the house.
For a family of just two, five fridges exist plus a deep freezer. The expiry dates of most of the stuff I saw there is about 2002. I even saw 1997.
Most of us can afford to buy stuff every day or week. But we seriously have to think whether we really need it. Minimalistic lifestyle needs more effort than the other kind of life.
We tend to hoard things for our next generation.I say, it is all going to be a waste.
Let us be honest here..."flylady.org" can help. Most of us think, if we employ a cleaner we are really done with the cleaning. Actually there ia a lot more.
Please put in your tips and make this an interesting topic. Because most of us think it is a very personal thing..
Type in your favourite cleaning material, how you declutter, what are you good/poor at, etc..
Stealth..Yes..And I am paid only a million for the job..
Yeah,it could be OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)...As it is not normal to make your home a junkyard..
SIGN OF OCD,
are you promoting flylady btw?
My best investment in life is family like any one else. But my next best investment is my cleaner who comes in everyday afternoon for two hours or more sometimes. He helps, suggests, admonishes, declutters, counsells, creates new stuff, repairs and cleans.. :-)
I get help from youtube videos, flylady, and go through housekeeping articles. Each time it gives me new ideas. I love my home to be full of curios and knick-knacks. But decided to "clutter" my second home in Kerala with all my collection- where we spend only few days a year.I can let them gather dust there. :-)
My "hotspots" are the tiresome laundry and filing. I need to find out a filing system which will hold all the papers in a single huge "box" file.Any tips to keep the important documents and all those certificates my hubby and daughter bring as "laurels" for me to store?
My parents and sisters are hoarders. My dad cannot part with the ancient typewriter nor can my mom give away anything fresh and useful to someone who needs it more than her.
My hubby would happily keep his underwear and dresses he wore in his teenage, if given a choice.
But God has given me something to trick all these people with- their inability to recollect once something is gone. :-)
I decluttered my mom's bedroom and gave away 2 huge bags of unwanted stuff. But later on my mom could only find one thing missing- a timepiece which barely worked. I replaced it with a new one happily.
What a twosome...truly record breaking hoarders. pathetic really!
As for me and how I declutter: I simply don't hoard. I'm brutal at chucking anything useless in seconds. Being an unsentimental person helps!
I tend to only buy food items manufactured in the most recent of times with an expiry that's far out,and use them pronto. No/minimal health risks then.
Shops like Rawnaq have some great stuff for helping to keep our homes clutter free. I simply love their prettily shaped holders for all kinda knickknacks.
A clutter free home is something I work on daily. My mother was a hoarder and warned me not to take after her. Truly advice worth heeding!
My hubby & I put on thick masks and gloves and threw out about 20 to 30 kilos of decayed food along with the containers and formerly frozen bags of meat, etc.
No Asterix, Unfortunately I am not. And the funniest thing is that the kitchen is not yet started after more than a week in the new house thanks to clumsiness, laziness and the kitchen stuff most probably dumped inside the bedroom cupboards. I have been affected by this as much as I was watching Sep.11 attack live.. :-(
5 Fridge!!! You must be Joking.... :/
Well,u also asked how we declutter our home...about me,I constantly keep recycling my clothes and my kids clothes also...If they are in the normal condition then I give them in charity...as for toys-I hide all the small toys (which are not in use) in cupboards so that they don't hurt our feet...
What a great family I must say..In which world are they living??? Especially the lady she doesn't know that her house is filled with junk that she had collected from yearsssss....Its just that either they both don't value things(they filled their home with the things they don't use) or they value too much(as they are using things like treasure)...LOL..
Who knows they were doing it for the purpose of collecting now to sell as antiques at a later stage !
Perhaps they were stocking up for a nuclear attack :o(
It looks they are worried more for tomorrow than today.....
Food from 2002 and 1997. Your friends need lessons in reading :o(
No worries. The beer in my fridge has no chance to expire and neither has the Jack Daniel's! But I permanently run short of milk.
more like a junkyard...
sounds like carrefour villagio.
I recently put up a storage in our corridoor using plywood. Very strong.I spent 130 QAR for it. Holds my Christmas tree box, the vacation bags and boxes and all those "unwanted for now, but cannot throw" stuff. It is painted the same colour of the wall and roof that it is barely noticeable.
