I have just accepted an offer to work in doha as a nurse in a private clinic. The offer is QR 2,800 with housing and transpo provided. It's a 4yr contract. I'm a first timer to work abroad. Is my decision right? Help. Tnx

You've worked with a tertiary hospital. That makes you qualified to apply with the govt. hospitals here then. Regarding the cancellation fees being charged by the agency, ask POEA if that is legal. You have plans to go to Canada, then if ever you'll get lucky to work in the govt. hospital here you'll have an advantage in terms of skills enhancement since the equipments being used are modern. And that private clinic? Maybe the hospital you came from is better equipped. Good luck!

thank you for all your replies. Its gud to hear some opinion from pipol who have experience on these things. If ever i'm going to cancel my aplication wid the agency, they will be asking P9,500 as payment for the cancelation since i already sign a contract. I'm curently working in a tertiary hospital wid mor than 4 yrs of experience. My mom us urging me to accept it so I can save some money and cross country to canada. Would that be a gud option for me? thank you.

Please don't take it. Make some sacrifices by getting experience. You'll be stuck in that private clinic and you can't transfer. Get enough experience, anyway the gov't owned hospitals are expanding and hiring is continuous I heard. Get in touch with UniStaff in Makati which is the accredited recruiter for Hamad Medical Corp. and ask if you can apply now or later. Don't regret not getting that QRs2,800.00 which is in fact measly! Entry level pay for a govt. owned hospital is around USD2,000.00. Think about that. You're young. Take the wise route.

=( Go back to the Philippines, work in St Lukes, Medical City, then go back here after having a good 3 year record, life will be much easier for you,

You'll find out if its good enough once you experience the cost of living here.

There's no point asking now since you've already accepted the offer. If it's higher than what you are having now then it's good. If you're living the good life now then think twice before coming.

Being a beginner its ok, but don't regret comparing your salary with that of leading hospitals who pay hefty. One benefit is, you can get MOH license at their cost which is very valuable in your future. Gain experience and try if you can reduce your 4 year committment to work for them. Good luck and join us soon here. god bless you.

as you said you have already accepted the offer? what is the point of asking whether you did the right thing or not? will it matter now? will it change your mind if we say the salary is very low?
