Babies will need tickets to see 2012 Olympics
London 2012 organisers are facing a backlash from prospective parents who have learned they will need tickets for their newborn babies – even if they were not conceived when the highly prized seats were bought.
The situation, which has been described as "ridiculous" and "bloody stupid" by angry ticketholders, has arisen because most tickets went on sale last April – 15 months before the Games.
Ticketholders, some of whom will have babies just weeks old and will be breastfeeding, have been told by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) they can try to buy an additional ticket for their chosen event for the baby.
But with tickets at a premium for many events, and only a few "pay your age" concessionary tickets available, most parents will not be able to get a ticket or will have to pay the full price.
Ticketholder Rosalind Ereira said she was told she would have to call a hotline to try to buy an extra ticket to the dressage for her as-yet-unborn baby when the final 1.3m tickets go on sale in April.

A word to PG - unless you were absent the day they taught the facts of life at school - it takes 2 to tango and fathers figure in there somewhere!
such an odd thing to post, I agree, why the hell would you want to take a new born baby to the bloody olympics - how very peculiar. Plus some sporting events, new borns would be banned any way, as total quiet is required for some sports. I know I could not take my son into the tennis here in Qatar (1 yrs old) due to his age.
Exactly. You choose to have kids then you realise the sacrifices that come with it. Taking a baby along to the Olympics is just ridiculous. If you can afford the stupid ticket prices, you can afford a babysitter.
Nobody wants to take a baby for the Olympics just for the heck of it.It's the parents, who whilst want ardently to witness the prestigious event, can't obviously find someone to watch over their baby or afford a sitter.Guess with them being charged the caring parents will now have no alternative but to either pay the price or miss the Olympics!
Following a religion where we are even advised not to take our babies to mosques and religious sermons if it means they'll cause disruption and disturb others, I'm not surprised that people may actually want to keep babies away from public events due to the problems they cause. But that said I do truly pity those moms/dads. Unlike some uncaring folks who'll just dump their babies anywhere so they can have fun, these folks are burdened between having to ensure their kids are safe and doing the stuff they love. Such is life and that's the kind of sacrifices that come with parenthood!
oh poor PG, he was never a baby
i think babies' tickets should be double on occasions like that and on planes.
If you are a mom and you are reading this:
We don't care how cute your baby is. When he cries he PISSES many of us off!
Why would anybody want to take a Newborn to the Olympics anyway? Agree with TB - they should be charged a tax for annoying the rest of us.
Well that should keep the number of crying babies down to a minimum then. Who wants to put up with restless infants whilst trying to enjoy such an event?
