Filippancy at Al Ahli Hospital
By pearlofqatar •
I had an appointment at Al Ahli dermatology department scheduled for 1.20 pm today. As I arrived on time, I am told to wait for half an hour as the doctor left for his lunch break, without caring about his patient.
I cancelled the appointment and left the hospital.
Is it a fair treatment? Your comments please.
Jjj, actually have heard the exact opposite from my friends, who infact changed their minds and went to hamad from AA, a few weeks before delivery, and have had my own experience with hamad as well, so guess which I would choose.
Anyway, I think we went off track with this subject, hope pearl of Qatar gets a response from the customer care team at AA,bcos I never got a response even after sending the complaint three times over 6 months, no acknowledgement, nothing. And I had to visit the hospital in a emergency situation.
Have a lovely weekend.
let us put it this way, I have never heard a positive report about having a baby in Hamad vs lots of positive reports of having them at AA - guess which one I will be choosing???
Sorry, jjj, did not get the last part of your post. But like I said,it's each ones personal opinions. :-) so I will rest it at that.
I repeat no one I know who had a baby in Hamad had a good word to say, their experiences would make you run for the hills. on the other hand - apart from OBGYN, actually having a baby and on the ward, the experience was fine
hamad is way better than these so called luxury treatment rooms
jjj, its all relative. each one has their own good and bad experiences.many would swear as hamad being the best place to have a baby, but again, its each ones personal perspective.
Hamad is not good if you are having a baby
Azzy girl, I have been to many of these clinics and hospitals and I would say Hamad is the best. And this is my opinion.
Lesser waiting time as compared to Al-Ahli, loads of experience, better customer service at hamad, yes they have a good customer service. If you complain, they will investigate your compalint within 24 hours and report back to you as well.
the only problem with hamad is getting the first appointment, because consultants can have a long waiting period, but with a proper referral, even thats not a long wait.
You know Hamad has got to be good as many of their own staff seek medical treatment elsewhere.
Quite - where, bad news from most doctors all over town and anyone I know who has had a baby in Hamad have horror stories to tell
I know a few people who said the service they got at that hospital was ok.
I haven't been to see a doctor in months...(THANKS BE TO GOD)...and Al Ahli Hospital is way out of my reach, to be honest :P
My point is...if the service is horrendous, why not go elsewhere. Question is, where?
same in Paediatrics, same in the dental dept, same at the family clinic and now it appears same in dermatology - spot the trend Azilana or is it just to obscure for you?
As for changing OBGYN, did that for the umpteenth time, same old same old, late late late late, always late and poor customer service
the OP's issue is dermatology, yours is your OBGYNE.
and in your case, you need to change your OB-GYNE.
Absolute rubbish Azilana - I had an OBGYN at Al Ahli who was regularly over an hour late for their first scheduled appt of the day, I put it down to perhaps this doctor performing an emergency procedure or was in Surgery etc. This happened 3 x to me and the last time this doctor was over an hour late to his clinic, the nurse finally admitted to me that he was on his way in the car. They called him over 20x, each time he said the same, I am on my way, I am in the car.
Now, if I was 1.5 hours late for work and my boss rang to ask where I was and over the 1.5 hours I kept saying the same 'I am on the way, I am in the car' I would now be facing disciplinary - but it appears at Al Ahli, anything goes and the patient, after paying a fortune just has to lump it.
Wassup with the title
A doctor would never leave if he has an appointment, that's why there's a nurse and/or secretary to arrange the schedule.
There's always 3 sides of the story, "your" side, "his"(the doctor's) side AND the truth.
So, whatever it is, let's give this issue our benefit of the doubt...
pearl of qatar, i am assuming that you are referring to the complain you lodged at Al-Ahli hospital.
resend the complaint and wait and see. keep persisting, or just go to the hospital and raise an issue. you can wait a year and no one will respond.I dont think their customer service even looks at compliants or emails.
More than one month passed nobody contacted me as I expected they would not.
Regards,
Please let us know, if al ahli responds back to your suggestion form, because my experience is that they have a lousy customer service and are not interested in following up on the complaint.
Do remember that all units of hamad hospital do not have a strict appointment system, you just go there early and take the token and wait for your turn. It can take half and hour to almost an hour and half to see the doctor.
Sorry can you explain the title?
Did you not ask for the doctor's schedule for that day? Maybe your definition of "appointment" is contacting/asking information desk whether this/that doctor has clinic today WITHOUT asking his/her EXACT schedule.
Well, most of the doctors here are incompetent for their titles and most of the time would cause more trouble to you.
Doctors in hospitals here go for lunch breaks, prayer breaks etc. And since that is the case, maybe the best solution would be to schedule patients accordingly.....
Mind you, long waiting times are normal for doctor's visits the world over...
I have filled suggestion form and put in the box before leaving Al Ahli. I am considering to visit Hamad Hospital instead. Good to have choice.
doctor left? MAybe he just left for he attended a patient before you? Better he be not hungry while treating you rather than, you know.
ANyhow, set another appointment and if it is still the same, complain, don't just go!
This is common problem as this hospital. I have heard of people waiting more than 1 hours for scheduled appointments. Scheduling the appointment is often difficult and disorganized also. Hopefully if enough complain they will improve, but best solution is for new private hospitals to open to create competition.
specially considering the kind of money we pay over there for consultancy, but not something unheard of.Never had such an experience at Al Ahli though I've gone through similar situations elsewhere.Whilst I applaud you for standing your ground, knowing me though I'd probably have waited depending on my queue waiting number.
Do u think cancelling appointmnt is the solution.. U should have to complain.. Which u did not...
Sadly Doctors here feel that they are far too superior to care about patients.
