I may shift to Qatar, to join Qatar Airways. They proposed salary of 6000-7000 QR, and house rent 5000 QR, other allowances 550 QR (transportation, laundry), in total 12600 QR approx.
As far as I searched this site, I found it is quite not good, but not totally bad.
I have some problem though, so I'm confused to either take this offer or not.
I have to shift with my newly married wife, who is just looking to enter undergraduate program.

So, my expenses will be...
1. House rent-(single bed flat will do for the couple)
2. Food-
3. Study cost- per month 1500 QR on an average
4. transportation-
5. mobile, internet- 1000 QR
6. Electricity/Water - 300 QR (laptop running always)
7. Dress
8. Utilities- like powder, stencils

Basically, I live a normal lifestyle here in Bangladesh. I live with my family, so no food, house cost, which seems the most costly thing there.

1. I need to know, will 3000 QR do to get such flat ?
(preferably, near airport area)
what about furnished flat ?
what about buying furnitures ?
2. I like eating outside once/twice a week. home food is normal, like one of chicken, fish, egg, meat alongwith rice.
4. I like to ride bike. is there 125cc bike available to buy ?
I have driving license. will it do in Qatar ?
what will be the cost of renting/leasing a car ?
8. grocery item price list update ?
can anyone provide ?

Thanks to all...

dear han19,

I didn't find grocery price list here but got the link to get one, in Iloveqatar.

What do you mean to get sharing accomodation, will you please explain ?

how can a bike be more expensive than a car ?!!! I gotta have a 125cc yamaha bike here, its far less expensive than even a reconditioned car.

anyway, how about the bus costs ?

I visited Qatar University website, the cost as I got, is almost 1500-1750 QR. Its high but maybe I can manage.

Is it really tough to get admitted there ?

is there competition for the admission ?

how distant learning is possible ?

Hi Mandi, His salary is 6k+, that should be sufficient to apply for family visa. Have they increased this limit again?

Again, applying for a undergraduate program here is not as easy as back home. It's expensive, unless you opt for an open university or distance learning program.

I have some problem though, so I'm confused to either take this offer or not.

I have to shift with my newly married wife, who is just looking to enter undergraduate program.

1. Mataar kadeem(Airport area) with difficulty you can find a single BHK in the price of 3500 - 4000 Qrs (villa

type - semi furnished)

2. Monthly grocery expenses + utensils + other houeshold would be around 1500 Qrs.

3. Transportation is very expensive unless you own a car

Rent a car will be around for sedan car Qr.1500/- per month, its better to own one thru loans EMI 1200-1500

per month for small car

4. HOME ADSL Internet 200 Qrs (1 MBPS)

5. Furnished flats 4500-6000 For single BHK, so its better to buy furnitures on your own as its just one time cost and go for a unfurnished flat.

6. Riding bike 125 CC, you own find bikes here less than 350 CC, however 125cc is just for pizza deliveries. btw, riding bike is suicide in here.

7. You need to start learning from scratch your bangladesh license wont be any beneficial.

8. for grocery items check www.luluhypermarket.com or www.carrefourqatar.com

Did you find a grocery price list here on ql?

Housing at 3000 is not possible in Doha city unless you take sharing accommodation.even out of Doha city, it may seem difficult, but not impossible.

People do have bikes, a minority, but it can be expensive, the most used form of transport here is a car. You need to get a qatari license here to drive.until you get the license you will have to depend on taxis ( not cheap) or buses( nothing great).

Is your wife planning on taking up studying in the university here? Only distance learning will be cheap, full time study at a college is quite expensive. Contact the universities to find out their fees. Getting admission is not that easy either.
