Cost of Food and other Groceries

My wife and I along with our two children plan to move to either Dubai or Qatar next August. We have spent many hours looking at a variety of forums to try and get an idea of the cost of food and other groceries. This has been difficult as one persons grocery spend can vary quite significantly from another's.

I have created a spreadsheet of some of our "basics" and was hoping that the users of Qatar Living could help me complete it by letting me know how much they pay for the items on my list.

I will then update the spreadsheet with a "lowest price" and "highest price" for each item.

Click on this LINK to view my spreadsheet.

If you can help me out with a price, please add a comment with the item description, price and quantity eg Basmati Rice $20 for 1 Kg.

Many Thanks

We are from the States and our food bill doubled. We used to spend $400 a month (2 adults, 2 kids, 3 pets) now it's $800 a month.

Though we do buy a lot of American branded items from Megamart and Spinneys, so that raises it a lot. If I never bought American brands, It would drop to about $500-$600 a month.

There are people here working with very low scales yet they manage to save a portion of their salary and survive in the growing inflation. I am pretty sure you would be getting a good remuneration package therefore food cost shouldn't be a big deal for you.

Not certain whether you have searched the fundamentals yet I would rather spend time in searching for places to visit, schooling etc.
