Hello,
I am from tunisia and I will start to prepare my PhD in Qatar, I will get a salary of 9000 QAR, the accomodation is paid (shared with another student) and the plane ticket also.
But I'm progamming to get married , in this case I think that I will lose the advantage of paid accomodation and I will have to rent another one for myself.
my futur wife is a software engineer and I think if she will get a job this will ameliorate things .So has she a good chance to get a job ?

For the moment ,do you think that this salary (9000 QAR) will be sufficent for a life of a couple (wife and a husband) and will us be able to save money ?

Britexpat, the phD duration isn't 18 months but it's up to 4 yearsDo you think it's possible to negociate with my boss about the accomodation because it's paid but I can't bring my wife with me to a shared house with another student . don't you know another case where somthing like that happened : do you think I can get supplementary money in place of house ?

If you're only coming here to do your Phd - then I suggest that you postpone marriage.Do your Phd (which i assume will take about 18 months) and then get a better job prior to getting married.

Possible...but don't expect to save anything.

If your wife gets a job then you might save something as well.

It's up to your own living standards, I'd think that a young couple with no kids in a savings mood could possibly live on that salary. I hope your wife finds something for her... anything to begin with is a plus. Good luck!

it will be little difficult for you to find a room here, if you came here and directly went to find some room you may need to spend morethan 6000QR per month, So be patient in searching for a room coz you can find it. Me and my family is living in a room worth of 2500QR it is a fully furnished home situated in Alkhor. You have to be patient for this matter, best of luck

the biggest problem is accomodation , so what do you think is the minimum price to rent a studio or an appartement with 1 bedroom ? As I saw, it will not go under 6000 QAR that's why I think the situation will be risky , don't you think so ?
