Nikon - The model which i know best in mid-entry level is D90. That can be more complicated to a fresher like you. Of-course Nikon as well is a good brand and can make nice pictures. Why I specifically mentioned Canon is because they quite a good range of entry level DSLR which are afforable, simple to use and stable machine. Nikon's as well have few entry level bodies, but not as good as Canon. Another point is Canon makes a wide range of "glasses" (lens), which are in both cheap and expensive range.
I will never say and is not interested to argue on the point "Which is the best Camera (Canon or Nikon or Sony), but tell in fact all are good cameras, you should assess your requirement, future plans, budget (major factor) etc and decide.
Of-course the tools are important, but should bear in mind that good fotos always come from a "creative mind".......
Welcome again ......in case if you have more doubts..
Yes, Canon 550D is a good choice. It's an "Entry-Level" DSLR and gives good results. You can go for the Canon 550D kit which includes, Canon 550D camera body and two lenses (18-55mmIS and 55-250mmIS).
Please bear in mind that, always better to buy a Camera Bag, which can hold atleast, two lens and a Speedlight (Flash) and few other gadgets which you may require sooner or later. That also canon is making and a better model is "Canon 200DG".
Another tip for buying memory card --- as now a days memory is getting very cheap, people may tend to buy more memory storage in one card. (like 32GB in one card) . Don't do that, your camera body can take-up that much but the speed for writing the image to card by camera processor will be very slow and that will affect your consequential clicks. Go for two 8GB card, that will be more than enough for you.
For lens, once you buy, in case the seller didnot give a "lens UVfilter", buy that separate and fix it on the front of lens. This is to protect the "glass" from getting dust/dirt inside
........Time goes buy if you have any concerns, pls feel free to ask....ready to share my thoughts and experiences....
I'm saving up for a Canon 550D at the moment. I think it's the best DSLR out there for the money and it's definitely 'professional'. I've also been told that it's the best DSLR for people who haven't owned one before because it's relatively easy to use.As it stands, the price is around 3,300QR at most retailers.
