Visa for non married partner

Hello,

My boyfriend has been offered a position in Doha for 2 years in expat terms and as I have my job in Europe I am not going to follow him there. But I was thinking of taking a sabbatical of 3 months from my job and stay with him in Doha during the time he will be working there.

Since we are not married, I can imagine that he will not be able to arrange a family visa for me? Do they require documents of proof if he says I am a relative (eg a cousin)? We also have different nationalities.

If I come on a tourist visa, I saw that I can take a visa for up to a month... does this mean that if I exit the country (eg I go to Dubai for a few days) I can re-enter the country for another month afterwards with another visa?

I have an EU passport.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Anny

DohaBrit is right, you can stay here for 2 months hassle free(some I know well did the same) after which you are very likely to run away :)

This is an Islamic country and unmarried partners are not allowed LEGALLY to stay together. If you are only a friend or fiance who is going to Sponsor you? He cannot Sponsor you if you are not his wife. As per my knowledge Tourist visa can be obtained  for two weeks with one week extension.

Yes for sure your boy friend cannot apply for a family visa and also for a family relative one should have to be a blood realtion i mean brother / sister having same father name identity on the passport.

There is one another most feasable solutrion is as you herself explained a visit visa of one month. Normally this is issued againest the hotel booking. Do one thing asked local hotels in doha they can arrange visa for you with some token amount for visa services or book your hotel for some days and then checked out and go with your boy friend. I believe that visit visa is always issued for 1 month but it can be extended upto 6 months and i think you dont need to fly out of doha and they renew your visa. You can do this either through hotels or by herself appearing in the immigration offices.

Hope you understand fully and in case further clarification is required just let me know where i can be of any help.

Best of luck

Hi, if you enter on a tourist visa, obtained on arrival without being pre-arranged, it is valid initially for one month.  It can be extended for a further month without you needing to leave the country.  If you do leave, you can re-enter immediately and get another month's visa. There is no need for you to worry about providing proof of who you are etc if you are carrying an EU passport.

Hi, if you're holding a Greek Passport (as your profile says) then you're fine to come to Qatar, and get a visa on arrival (100QR) They will stamp you for one month. After thirty days, go to immigration (nex to the airport) and without question, they will extend it for another month. After that month, you will have to fly to Dubai or Bahrain to extend again.Frankly, after 2 months you will need a weekend away anyway!
