i already got july bill for my water & eletricity & im so upset with the amount i saw. its QR. 394 to think that 14-15 hours we are not at home.  im just living with my son who is in the school (drop him 6:30 am) & daycare in the afternoon till 9pm...im working from 7:30 - 12:30 just go home to have a rest for 1 hour & go again at 3:30 - 8:30 & reaching home after i picked my son almost 10 pm...this is from saturday-wednesday...thursday til 2pm... so just 9-10 hours at home im paying like this?!!!...im single mom living in doha & its a lot money to me if every month if im paying like this without valid reason.

i compare it with my collegue, he has 3 kids with maid, wife is not working & their bill last month is just QR. 128 & he told me he never pay more than QR 200...i dont know what to do, its so unfair & every month with this schedule im having & my bill is always more than QR 200, i thought its ok in doha so it didnt bothers me but since i have comparison with other bill, i think there is something wrong!!!! just 2 people in the house paying always more than QR 200 & the worst now 394 while others is 6 in the house not working wife & maid paying just more than QR 100.

where can i compalin? im living in madinat khalifa south & how can i complain? & do they believe me if i say like this to them, but i think they need to double it check right?.. can anyone give me an advice what is the best thing to do....

thanks in advance

Your comparison with other family’s utility bill and their member of family  is ok for you to have some idea . But remember KAHRAMAA is charging as per the actual consumption based on the meter installed in your premise.

So Please analyze your bill carefully as following

1.   Check your electricity reading in bill  and match physically with your electric meter.

2.    Check your water reading in bill  and match physically with your water meter.

3.   Calculate electricity consumptions @ 0.08 per unit up to 4000 unit and above 0.10

4.   Calculate water consumptions @ 4.40 per unit

You will be able to know whether electric bill is high or water bill is high.

if you find any calculation/reading mistake or having doubt any of the meter being faulty, you can make a complain to Kahramaa Al hilal office, D ring road.

Well, I have had same problem in the past and surprising with this month bill too... Until last month bill while my Wife, Daughter and My brother were using the electricity to the full resulted in Qr.110/- to Qr.150/-. Soon after they left for vacation, I started getting the bill of Qr.400/- and above.

Sad, but there is nothing much that can be done. No time and patients to visit Karama Office in this hot summer while fasting, especially with loads of work at office to attend.

Are you living in a villa partitioned building? IF so, that'll explain it. The entire villa (partitioned into four or six parts) will be having only a single metre. When four or six families use water and electricity, and it is calculated by a single metre, it would come to a large number. In Qatar, they bill you by usage. For example, they may have a tariff, say QR.50 for one unit if your consumption is below 100 units. They will charge you QR.80 for units between 100 and 20. The rate may be QR1.20 for every unit between 200 and 300. It goes on like that, increasing each time the limit is breached. When there are more families using the resources using the same metre, there's every chance that you use up 800 to 1000 units a month, at least. This is the reason why you're being billed so highly.I had the same problem and was paying above 300 each month, although I too was not at home vey often. I changed houses, to Barwa, and my highest bill since then has been QR123.Demand your landlord to change the system to an individual metre or move out ASAP. I hope you do something soon, or you'll end up paying through your nose. All the best!
