Police Clearance Certificate from Canadian embassy
To process my work visa in Qatar, I need to have a police clearance certificate produced.
I am a Canadian citizen and am currently in Qatar.
I have tried the following things till now:
1. Called the Four Seasons Hotel to speak to the Canadian consul that usually sits there, but the Four Seasons told me there is no one that sits there now.
2. I have called the Canadian embassy in Dubai and asked them for guidance. They forwarded me to instructions online of how to get a police certificate if I want to immigrate to Canada. Useless for me.
3. I have called the Canadian embassy in Kuwait, but their consular section has been completely unresponsive for over two working days now.
Does anyone know what the procedure for such a certificate is and if so, how do I get started? If I know what the procedure is, I can at least get the paperwork sorted and submitted to the right authorities.
1. Go to the International Fingerprinting Services Canada (IFSC) Ltd.,
a. 100 Argyle Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K2p-1B6, www.policecheck.com, Tel (613)237-9061, [email protected].
b. Pay a fee
c. Request a police clearance against your fingerprints for the purpose of working overseas.
2. Must complete a criminal history check. Can do either one of the following steps:
a. The fingerprinted document can be mailed to the RCMP (like FBI in the US) to get it notarized and that will take 4-6 weeks.
b. The fingerprints can be taken to Ottawa Police Services (their building is right next to the IFSC but on Elgin Street). Must pay a fee and completed a criminal records check form. Your record would be checked on the computer and cleared.
3. Get a document notarized by the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Success drive downtown Ottawa. This service is free and you will receive an official red stamp on you police clearance.
