Exit permit for Vehicle required

I just came to know that there is a new rule (effective 1st June 2011) for all travelling outside country by car, should get an Exit Permit for the car issued by the traffic department.

One of my friends was sent back from Qatar border to get an exit permit for his car as well. He had a loan on his car from the bank and was required to obtain an NOC from bank to get the Exit permit issued. He wasted 2 days because of the weekend and 2 days to complete the formalities with the bank.

1. The bank will issue a No Objection only if

a.There is enough balance in your account to cover the remaining loan amount (110%) (Bank will freeze this amount until you return and notify the bank)

b.You must bring a guarantor to the bank who can sign on a paper stating that he takes the responsibility to pay the remaining balance. (Not to mention that this person should have a salary account with your bank - this can be cancelled on return)

Alternate option is that you take a personal loan and clear your vehicle loan. Now, since the car will be in your name, you just need to go to the Traffic Department and they will issue you the exit permit.

Hope this will help to all those who wish to travel for Umrah (Omra) or to travel to neighbor countries in summer vacation. Please pass this information to all your friends, so that they can plan for their trip well in advance and avoid any last minute surprise at the Borders. If anybody is travelling for Umrah and needs more information please feel free to drop me an email on [email protected]

What you have stated regarding the NOC from the bank is not new. Plus there was a new ruling anyway stating that cars on Loans will not be allowed to leave Qatar.

But this exit permit for the Car from MOI not heard of that one before care to expand on that one?

Trust me it is not that easy for everyone to find a guarantor who has account in the same bank. I know one friend his salary account is in Bank A but loan from Bank B. Now the irony is, all his collegues and friends have accounts in Bank A. If he was aware of the rule, he could have prepared for it but thats the problem sometimes you miss out on these news, Any one knows when this was published in the any of the english newspaper.

Agree hms. as simple as allocating only 65 QR a month to subscribe newspaper to know what is going on out there. Things like this been around on the paper.

Nice info though.

For those benefited from car loan from company, my HR company said that we should get clearance letter from company to be able to cross the border using company-financed car
