International school for non-English speaking kids
Hi there,
My company offered me to move to Qatar, and I'm positively thinking to accept it. However, the schooling for my 7-year-old boy is one of the biggest headaches related to this relocation.
I’ve checked out some previous discussions on this website, which are all really informative. But most are for English-speaking (or native English) kids. Since English is not our first language (I am a Korean) and thus my son almost can’t speak English, can anyone share your experiences and/or recommend for this kind of situation?
I don’t know where to start as I heard some schools (e.g. DESS) don’t accept non-English speakers and there are quite many international schools in Doha. For your info, my office is in the West Bay, Doha, and I’m going to choose an accommodation based on my son’s schooling.
Many thanks in advance.
Newton International School in West Bay has a good experince in this. A friend told me that they have a special program for kids like yours. He told me they have done this with the kids of the Azerbaijani ambassador. They don't speak English but you know children learn very fast. I have one kid in this school and she is happy.
