£20,000 on a dog wedding !

Here's an idea for QAWS to make extra money and have fun to boot....

Britains most extravagant dog owner has splashed out an incredible £20,000 on giving her pampered pooch the perfect wedding day.

Louise Harris, 32, invited 80 guests to the lavish ceremony to watch her Yorkshire terrier Lola tie the knot with Mugly, a Chinese Crested, who holds the title of the UK's ugliest dog.

The bash was held in an outdoor marquee in the grounds of a mansion in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, costing £2,500 for the venue alone.

Lola wore a £1,000 wedding dress, made by dog clothes designer Michele Ochs, who created all the outfits in the Beverly Hills Chihuahua film, customised with 1,800 Swarovski crystals by Latimer Couture.

Louise said: "I wanted Lola to have the perfect day.

"My dogs are my pride and joy so nothing is too good for them. I enjoy spoiling them because it makes me happy."

Probably a new bowl and lead lol

I don't think the obligatory toaster and iron would be fitting in this case :-)

They earned their money so they have the right to use it in whatever way they want which will make them happy. We can never detract the fact that giving it to the needy is a good deed, but who are we to question their actions, nobody questioned when we buy luxury things. We are all the same, she just spend the money in a different way but the importan thing is it did make her happy. That's her money afterall. We can never say that she didn't help the needy.Maybe she did and what she did now is her consolation for herself.

Brit i doubt a middle class woman would spend that much on her poochie! I dont care HOW much you love your pets.

actually, she's not rich. she just enjoyes pampering her pooches...

It;s her money, if it makes her happy, then so be it.

And to the "tree huggers"...how do you know she has not spent even more money on "the needy" ?

Then again edifis has a point to make...how else can we con money out of the rich?

It's not a waste. Circulation of money is good for he nation's economy.

Sadly some dog owners do not realize that a dog just wants its Master to LOVE it...fancy weddings, clothes, jewelry its not for the dogs its more for the owners.

Snessy there was nothing ridiculous about what you did for your family dog. However this lady (obviously in my personal opinion) either likes to be extrovert for attention, or is making up for deficiencies in other aspects of her life. This is not normal behavior at any price, be it £10 or £20,000. Otherwise it would not be news worthy.

Although I think £20k is excessive to spend on a doggy wedding, we spent quite a bit on having our dog cremated when he was put to sleep. A dog is part of the family...

I wonder if there is a man in her life? Are dogs her family substitute?

Me too, in the context of apparent value for money.

It is just the Samaritans that come on and bleat about the less fortunate. I am sure there are starving kids that would poke holes in the tree-huggers monthly spending too.

Agreed Qhris, however I still think she is barking mad.

'could have given it to an orphanage' remarks are f**king stupid.

Some people buy smart phones. Some pay for internet connection every month. Some pay for a car. Some buy an engagement ring. Some pay for air travel to go on holiday. And some give their dog a wedding.

So what? do you give your every last cent to a 'needy' cause? Of course not, you justify all your expenditures.

So did these people.

Is it rational? Who are we to say. They worked hard for their money, they can spend it how they like.

after all, you do too.

I don't understand the concept of pets at all so any money anyone spends on their pets is a waste in my opinion.

Desperate, Envious people (not the Louise Harris but some commenters here) !!!

-failed to understand why people criticize rich people when they spend their earned money !

-why people castigate the rich to “spend it wisely” while many of them are not enough wise to be like them, ‘the billionaires’ !

-it’s their money, they have earned them ‘rightly’ and have right to spend the way they want (within the law of land) and if it’s unlawful, report them, simple!

Per the economics : she did, in a way, help society by spending 20K. Money instead lying “idle” (that’s ‘crime’ per economics) was circulated, some artisan found works, business boosted……….

Seems ghost of karl marx still haunt many !!!!

britexpat...100% agree with you... her money her wish how she intends to use it...I stated, what I stated, as a rejoinder to some QLers who always feel they have the right to decide how anyone uses his/her money, bringing in the sad emotional mention of "needy/ poor people". I have always maintained I earn money and have absolute right to use it the way I want, nobody has any right to question me what I do with that money so far I do not use it for wrong reasons.

Indeed Brit, it's her money and she can do what she likes with it. But I still think she is barking mad. And yes I can't help thinking about the good that money could have done for so many.
