Where to live - Al Sadd or Mushereib?

Hi, I and my wife (no kids) recently came to Qatar and now looking for a 1 bedroom apartment to rent. We found two apartments that we really like, one is in Al Sadd and the other one is in Mushereib. I and my wife are confused which one to go for as both have good and bad points. I thought you all can give us good idea with your own experience living in Doha.

The apartment in Al Sadd is a bit small, but the rent is QAR 6000 per month which includes everything (water, electricity, phone, internet, Satellite TV). My wife likes Al Sadd area as shopping centre is walking distance from our apartment and she likes to do a bit of walk. I found Al Sadd area to be a good area where a girl alone can walk outside during the day without feeling harassed of getting all the staring looks from the laborers (you know what I mean these laborers stare at all women as if they have never seen any).

The apartment in Mushereib is much bigger and nicer than that of Al Sadd. The rent is QAR 6000 per month but it does not include electricity, phone, water, Satellite channels and internet, so I have to budget all these in addition to the rent. However, I have been told that I can get all utilities (elec, water, internet, TV and phone) for around QAR 500 per month, considering its just two of us using these utilities. The apartment is much more spacious and beautiful than that in Al Sadd.

However, I am not fond of the area in Mushereib, with lots of labourers walking around. Also, the apartment in Al Mushereib does not have walking access to shopping centres, one always has to drive.

So having said all of this, we are little confused which one to go for. Can you please help. I think I have listed all the criteria that we have considered in order to compare the two apartments.

The apartment in Musherieb is little expensive but more spacious and beautiful. The area of Al Sadd is better than Mushereib (or atleast it seems like it). So your thoughts? and thanks for reading all this ....

Al Sadd. I think your utilities would end up being more than you anticipate.

Al Sadd is a very nice place. Malls and other establishments are just walking distance. :)

I'd say Musherib, since u like the apartment. U wont be doing much walking in this place, even in Al-Saad.Once u're here u will be moving around by car only.

I'd choose the one at Al Sadd. You're probably not going back home until the night comes. Even if the flat is smaller, all utilities are paid for. Al Sadd is a much classier neighborhood that Musheireb.

Go for it!
