Dear Users
Could you please let us know where the expats are allowed to buy property in Doha, specially in Al Khor.

Check the plight of at least 10 people who have purchased in the Pearl...

If they are happy you can buy...

If not dont buy...

99 years RP don't grantee you a 99 years stay. If the authorities want they can still kick you out the next day you did the investment.

Think a million times before spending a million. :)

There is difference between liking Qatar and finding a problem with buying property here. As one of the posters said as a non-citizen you have no defined legal rights if anything goes wrong.

Would you gamble 1 million riyals plus on the hope that everything would be ok?

There were stories about the 99 years RP being subject to Govt approval

I am with MC on her comments

Please surf QL and you will read first hand experience of people who have bought property here.

Qatar is a nice safe place, but dont consider for a moment that crime does not happen here. It is not publicised. Also, applies to road accidents, drugs, prostitution, etc etc

I'll actually answer your question...haha

You will not find property to buy as an Expat in Al Khor. From my understanding only the new developments (West Bay area) are available. This includes Zig Zag Towers, The Pearl and some surrounding West Bay Villa compounds.

Always ask what the existing and future service charges are going to be. Many people are unhappy with expensive service charges at the new free hold development The Pearl.

Do plenty of research, there are many vacant properties at the Pearl - dont believe the selling agents check them out on your own

aha regular shootings in schools is very common here and drugs are too easy to get plus the hookers are on the road before sunset and the list goes on and on

Ummer.... No drugs, no prostitution, no violence? You don't live in Qatar if you believe that to be true

umhamza - if you think there's no prostitution in the street (let alone elsewhere in Qatar) and no "violations in the street" - I suggest you buy 2 properties here.

First go to Hamad hospital and get a sanity check. If you are declared legally insane and have money to throw away then go ahead and buy

By anonymous• 19 Feb 2011 19:06

the one of the reasons is

1 .that they like to live hear ,

2 .they feel more secure then in there own country,

3. they find better opportunity for job

4. they fell more conformable to raise there own kids (no violations in the streets, drugs in the school , prostitution in the streets etc )

do you need any reason more come to the normal people mind :" why will someone like to live and stay forever in Qatar and have there own home instead of paying rent every month ?!"

I do not understand why anyone would want to buy property anywhere in the GCC if they are not a national of that country. The rules changed suddenly to allow it, the rules can change just as suddenly to remove it. Expats will have no legal recourse in such a case. Buy in your home country or buy in a country that does not allow this to possibly happen, or at least has a legal system that allows you to get some form of compensation or other legal redress.
