Employing part time maid sponsored by someone else
By Kiwiinqatar •
We have recently arrived in Qatar. We are a married couple without children, both working full time. We need a part time cleaning lady for about 5 hours a week. We have been approached by a neighbour's live in maid, for part time employment. I suspect this is illegal, but can't find the relevant law on the Internet (I believe the Labour Law does not cover domestic workers, and even though there is talk of a new law, it seems that it has not been finalized yet. )Can anybody help with some advice please?
I wouldn't worry about it too much since everyone is doing it. Just make sure the maid and her sponsor are trust worthy because if anything goes wrong you have zero legal cover.
You can keep a part time maid no problem many family do this, she must be honest cos u will be leaving your house keys with her.
Yes it is illegal, but everyone does it.
It is illegal, irrespecive of part-time of full time.
