Type O is the first and oldest blood type. About 85% of the population have it. It was present for omnivores - humans that ate plants and animals.

Type A was the second type to develop. It occured in the the "fertile crescent" when agrarian (farming) societies came into existence. More vegetables/fruits were eaten and less cattle.

Type B was the third type to develop. This is more common in Pacific coastal areas of Asia proper and Asiatic islands in the Pacific. These people were more acclimated to eating rice, grains, fish/seafood and some amphibians and reptiles.

Type AB is the mix of Type A and B and very rare (5% of the world population).

As an FYI, the Blood type diet is often considered "Alternative Therapy" by western medicine. Studies have had no conclusive results for any blood type diet benefits except for Blood Type A (this is an FYI @ PrincessSarah) where this blood type is related to gastric (stomach) cancer. It DOES NOT mean you will have stomach cancer if you have blood type A but you can be more prone to it. This is possibly affiliated with the stomach lining not being acclimitized (evolved away from) digesting red meats.

@hraouf : If the blood type diet worked, it's simply due to healthy eating. I'm not poo-pooing it. I'm just saying that healthy eating often leads to elimination of foods that have large amounts of calories and we're often not aware of it. Keep up the good work, 7 kgs is a great achievement!
