Not Coming Back

Can anyone help.

Will I need to book a return flight even though I plan on not coming back to Qatar - i.e. will I get stopped at Qatar Airport even though i'll have an exit visa if i have a one way ticket?

Thanks

As long as you have an exit letter you are good.

the immigration will not ask for your return tickets....unless you have a cancelled visa and they are prompted by the banks that you have loans and obligations

one-way ticket when going for vacation and our company do the booking of the return trip upon request. So the one-way ticket is not an issue. It's the EXIT permit that is very important!

B2D - most 'bosses' are not like you and you know that. Your word 'voluntarily' shows your respect for your workers (which is to be praised).

The OP seems to have more serious issues to be able to break free from his sponsor - and with children he needs to make sure to get back to the UK for the new school term, spend Christmas at home and and and.... Things which are very important to people like him and many others. Sometimes people just snap when the family is not happy - and even 1 week can be like HELL if you don't want to be where you are.

They can't stop him from resigning, however if they are intent on making it difficult for him, then they will get what they deserve if he does a runner.

Bullying is not a management style I subscribe to. It does little for staff morale in the long run and creates disgruntled staff if the short.

My staff respect me (I believe!) as I give them respect in the first place. If my guys ever want to leave I'll reluctantly let them go but will ask they stay on until a replacement can be found and/or trained - but I ask they do it voluntarily!

Baldrick, although I agree with you, maybe Pierre's company does not want him to leave?

Hummmm... I have to say, baldrick has a valid point there.

If you have no plans to return, why not simply resign and do the right thing by the company? Doing a runner simply screws up the visa entitlements for someone else who might enjoy it here.

You won't be stopped at the airport as long as you have an EXIT permit.

All you need is the exit visas and your tickets to leave! Many companies issue tickets for the workers to come back while they are on holiday - it is a common practice and we have done it many times.

How easy it is for some people to jump to conclusions that you are running away from debts - just ignore those comments and good luck for your next adventure, wherever it may be :)

NO - the check in staff will not bother about if you have any outstanding dues (not saying that you have). And the Immigration Officers won't give a damn about if you don't have a return ticket, they only stop you if you're on repatriation and have outstanding dues.

No Problem with that.

I know of people who have done this with no problems - as Colt has suggested, just say you're unsure of your return date for now...

it is none of their business at the check-in counters to know if you have a return ticket or not, or if you're coming back or not, it's entirely your prerogative.

If you need an excuse, "I am undecided on my date of return, so I will book it online when I feel it's time to come back" ;-)

We're just not enjoying it here especially the children.

We have no debts etc (to stop the silly acusational comments that may appear later), just need to know if we will get stopped at airport if we have a one way.

Its a simple yes or no answer, or if anyone knows anyone who has done this in the past (not mentioning names)

and how will they know you have a one way ticket at the airport?
