Does anyone know the process for getting a Qatar Driver's License for a spouse here on a Family Visa?
By LivingHere •
My wife is here under a family visa. I was wondering where I needed to go to get started on this process. I have gotten her RP complete, and she is currently holding a Stateside Driver's license. My company did my Driver's license for me, so I don't really know the process.
That why I was wondering. I don't work for a Qatar Company. My "company" is primarily in business to sponser people here. Thanks again for the help.
Doesn't HR advise on these things in your company? It might be worth asking. Depending on which country you're from it's a different process. I was practically handed my license, all I had to do was get permission from my sponsor (hubby) and take an eye test. My American friends had to go to driving school first...
Yes we ahve the RP for my wife. We don't have the ID card yet because the stopped issuing them due to the new ones with the computer chip coming out next month or so. I hope this doesn't delay anything.
As always thanks for the answers. I really do appreciate the help.
Better check with some of the authorized driving schools in DOHA..here are the list:
Al Rayah Driving School: 44877774
Doha Driving Center: 44792263
Gulf Driving School: 44652822
United Driving Company: 44681003
So you mean to say that your wife has got her RP???
If i have understood it correctly, follow the details below:
Procedure/documents required to get QATAR DRIVING LICENSE
Documents required:
--Passport or ID card
--Three photos
--Original driving license
--Sponsor’s ID
--Your sponsor has to sign / stamp a form and may also have to provide a letter.
Residents of other nationalities have to do a driving test in order to get their local driving license. However it is compulsory that these Applicants have a residence permit in order to be able to apply for a Qatari driving license. In order to issue a local driving license, the usual procedure includes an eye test and a written test.
Thanks. I was hoping to avoid the driving school part. So that is where you go regardless correct?
Sorry if I am confusing in my question. I have an RP and driver's license. My wife is here under a Family Visa, her RP is complete, and I wanted to get HER a driver's license.
Go to any Driving school, who will advise you the full procedure.I think a short course will be enough for your better half since she drives.
YOU cant get a driving license on visit visa, since you said her RP is complete you will have to wait till she gets her Qatar ID to be able to apply for it.
