Ok this is gonna take some explaining. See there are hadiths that are authentic, then that which is reliable but may not be 100% and then those that are week and/or fabricated. So according to the most authentic hadith women are not supposed to go the graveyards. That said there are scholars who say it may not be 100% prohibited based on certain lesser authentic narrations. The best and strongest view is that we don't attend the graves on the funeral day but maybe permitted on another day just to visit so as to remember death and Allah knows best. As I told you this is a subject on which books are written not easy to sum up.. hope I didn't confuse you or anyone else!
typing really fast cos my daughter is pestering me to come take her for a walk..lol. No I never would think I'm more holier than anyone, God forbid. This is not of Islam. I hope I didn't come off sounding like that and if I did then my sincere apologies. Only wanted to clarify the queries you put forward.
WK,Your previous post reminds me something.... M K Gandhi said "Hey Ram".... when he was shot point blank range by Godse with a 0.38 semi-automatic pistol.
Women don't join the procession at all and this may not be directly stated in the Quran but it is stated in authentic hadiths and we Muslims follow both the Quran and the authentic hadiths.
In Islam its only the men who go to the graveyards. Its Allah's mercy on us women that we are spared the trauma of seeing a loved one being buried. That said its also not of Islam to wail loudly, hurt yourself, and tear your hair out etc. rather we are told to control our grief and pray for the one who passed away so that our sorrow will actually benefit our dead loved ones. That said you can cry and mourn just not to the extreme where you self destruct. I've just explained this very briefly, by the way..there are actually chapters on this topic =D
snessy: No! Please don't leave me! I promise to stalk you continually waiting with bated breath for you to ask me out again so I can accept immediately before you can replace me!
saeedkhan: where in the Quran is it written that women are not allowed by the grave site? Also, you didn't answer my question. At what point do women leave the funeral procession?
saeedkhan: so in those big funeral processions we see where the women are wailing and ripping their hair out, they stop short of the cemetery and head home to make tea?
my parents (though I know they would not wanna live to see me go)my daughter, my sisters, my friends..wow I have a lot of em, Alhamdullilah. It reminds me though of a line from this song "They cried out not knowing I cried more, for they go home and I meet my Lord" scary thought!!
Idk, not had coffee there ever, umm but we can have masala tea... where is that co-driver of yours, I have until 1645hrs, after which i have to be somewhere :-P
I don't know...I can't predict from now WHO WILL GO FIRST?? It could be anyone..right?? Life is really unpredictable..I don't think if u will get any accurate answers from anyone..

The report says "women shouldn't make visits to graveyards a routine,or some sort of habit"
But women can visit graveyards sometimes as it reminds them of death, but shouldn't spend too much time there.
oyrx, wait till someone comes to debate that its not "om pade hum"...its incorrect, lol.
lol oryx!
QL defintely requires some interment. I will attend without shedding tears....
Hare Hare Krishna Hare Hare Krishna

Apparently, you all are wrong: http://islaminaction.wordpress.com/2010/04/14/are-women-allowed-to-go-to-the-cemetery/#more-6959
Yes. Women are allowed at the grave site.
And would you like me to post pics of women in the funeral processions?
I dont want anyone to cry.
om pade hum
just a little variety!
Glad to be of help.
hope I helped answer that properly. I didn't include all the proofs cos that will just make the whole post way too looooong =)
FathimaH...you're a breath of fresh air :-)
JAZAAK ALLAH KHAIR FathimaH.

Khawaga this valuable information will be useful.

Every single thread I have seen him comment on, he is preaching, and ramming it down throats, not just this one.
He brings religion into every topic.
I am not so irrational to be this way over one post, on one thread.
So you can retract your 'fcuk off', thank you.

It was Paul octopo (adobo) he had :-P
welcome back avatar. Did you have Paul Adobo, too?
ALLAH SWT knows best.
PMSL...I love the fact this really sad thread has turned into a bit of a comedy sketch!
Khawaga...that's it, we're over. I'll never ask you out on a date again :-(
maybe another time ;-)
Your duty is that people who know Islam know it.
People who don't know it, and don't want to, don't want to.
And people who don't know it, and want to learn, won't be educated by an idiot quoting soundbites in posts like you.
Your work here is done.
you're grounded! go back into your corner!
Nope Colt.. Some other time.. Didn't work out :(
tinks, I will do of course..
i also relpy u nicely that i am only telling facts --- and this is my duty to tell facts
and your duty to take or leave
i respect all as Individual
Lol khawaga, you are giving this sad thread a funny turn.
do that quick, I can be at the place in 15, or ima head home ;-)
Nope colt.. have to go diagonally opposite side of Doha.. Wait let me check if the meeting is still on..
saeedkhan: so in those big funeral processions we see where the women are wailing and ripping their hair out, they stop short of the cemetery and head home to make tea?
I miss his silly comments :-P
snessy: Your proposition? Is this about the thing? I'm a big party-pooper and wouldn't be much fun. Thank you for your ten-minute offer though. LOL!
this thread makes me sad.. :(
my parents (though I know they would not wanna live to see me go)my daughter, my sisters, my friends..wow I have a lot of em, Alhamdullilah. It reminds me though of a line from this song "They cried out not knowing I cried more, for they go home and I meet my Lord" scary thought!!
is that place not on the way from where you have to go? :-(
Colt.. I have to be somewhere at 5.. Will become too hectic..
Don't be misunderstand. Nobody is that much crazy to cry for you....
Idk, not had coffee there ever, umm but we can have masala tea... where is that co-driver of yours, I have until 1645hrs, after which i have to be somewhere :-P
Awww Khawaga, you're just the loveliest thing :-)
BTW, any thoughts on my earlier proposition?
Colt...just giggle at our fun times, I'd prefer that :-)
Wow, this thread is morbid :-(
Colt: Do they serve coffee there? I've only ever had rose blackberry. No coffee. :o)
MJ: I'll cry for you.
snessy: You're not allowed to die.
saeed: why are all the men outside and the women inside? Am I going to regret having asked that?
I will for you too... just pray that i don't end up a senile old man then :-P
I will weep my heart out :-( i.e. if I'm still alive :-P
I'm buying if you meet me at the same place I saw you last... and get that co-driver of yours too :-P
I hope no-one cries for me, I don't wish sadness on anyone, especially not my family and friends!
don't know how many people will do, but I am sure someone will cry for me.. :(
lol colt! Sorry. Apparently we both need some midafternoon coffee.
who cares, when U r not worthy of 2 cents :P
quit it... it's contagious :-P
myself :(
I am not going to hijack this thread.
I have asked you nicely.
Please respect that some people do not believe in your religion. You have not answered a thread yet without a quote from your holy book.
Please, log off and go to the local mosque, or respect the feelings of others.
Thank you.
*yawn*
I am not teaching Religion only telling Facts
Apparently Islam will cry for him. But, according to him, no one else will. Poor guy!
Qhris - brainwashed :o(
Your constant ramming down the throat of religion is sickening.
Tone it down?
ONLY ONLY ONLY THE CROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HMM
I don't know...I can't predict from now WHO WILL GO FIRST?? It could be anyone..right?? Life is really unpredictable..I don't think if u will get any accurate answers from anyone..
