World's most expensive house
IT may well be the most ostentatious house-warming on record: India's richest man is about to move into the most expensive residential property in the world.
Billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani will soon take up residence at his recently completed Mumbai abode, a $1.93 billion glass tower said to have been inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
The interior floor space runs to 37,100sq m; equivalent to five soccer pitches - or more than the Palace of Versailles. The ceilings are more than twice as high as in a normal building, making the 173m , 27-storey structure as high as a 60-storey skyscraper. The outer walls of certain levels will be sheltered by hydroponically grown plants.
ALL QLERS R WELCOME FOR THE HOUSEWARMING.... provided uncle Ambani permits ;)

@ flor1212,well there you go mate,if you had just said that in the first place, that would've clarified everything now wouldn't it?...How am i to know what pun was intended & what the favourite jokes in the Philippines are??? Just like i wouldn't expect you to know the same about India...so thank you for clearing that up...
Now in answer to your question,a LOT of Indians, rich & otherwise don't pay all the tax they should be,HOWEVER, for people like Mukesh Ambani who are on the Forbes list of THE richest people on the PLANET,wouldn't you agree it would be kind of hard to conceal what they earn?...let me put it simply mate, this guy can afford to pay ALL his taxes,THAT'S how much money he makes,so yes,it's highly unlikely that this guy doesn't pay any taxes...
btw,i only replied the OP,so i'm not getting what you mean by "post it in your group"?...anyways,doesn't matter, you've clarified things so this was just a misunderstanding...
the Indian way, post it in your group. The pun was intended in my question. In our country, it's a favorite joke to ask if one saw a huge house "did they pay the (right) tax for this to afford such thing?". It's a sarcastic way of saying, too many people live in poverty and yet you see the rich getting richer? Are they really paying he right taxes? In India? Do you really know by yourself?
Thanks FU for the link, i too got the story as email.
nice to see U active again on QL
the less talked about them the much better. most of the millions have been made by duping the govt.
nomercy don't you think if they did I wouldn't be discussing this topic. There are many reasons for their frozen brain..
Teluguy, how about those "dwellers" start thinking for themselves...you know, that might actually do the trick!
Teluguy :What you are exhibiting in your comment above is victim mentality. It's not very positive. We all must learn to accept others good fortunes and experience happiness in others joys.Try it sometime.
Can v get this house for
partition..........................................
Certainly not to my taste...but hey, if that's what he likes, good for him!
Rony - You must post the link to the source when you choose to copy paste. Here it is:

Certainly not to my taste...but hey, if that's what he likes, good for him!
I saw the house...looks like a bad design.
what's the point in showing up a house where millions live in slums? Not all are destined to become rich. Those who do sholder some responsibility. I have read stories about those billionaires who live a simple life. It is foolish to think all that you legally earn is yours as the same wouldn't belong to you unless others worked or paid for you ur service. One should have the guts to acknowledge others' role. No one is rich enough to feel that he is independent. He is selling sim cards to these dwellers or showing cricket to them because it adds to his wealth without realising what they actually need is a shelter and drinking water. I don't know if his power supply reaches them. It is this thinking that is needed. I don't have the right to blame ambanis. That picture is a reaction to the boasting of the post.
Those who think they are ants here are seriously mistaken. Only grasshoppers ....
.
Lol FU what to do y'aani..
@ FU...the rich are always blamed mate!...
You guys above who are trying to blame the rich amuse me.
flor1212,as always, your Queen's English on display again..."did he pay his realty tax for this house" is slightly different from "did he pay the right tax?"...my answer or rather my question to you remains the same, one you haven't yet answered,so i will ask again, how does an individual build the world's most expensive house ANYWHERE in the world & not pay the required tax on it???...
Mukesh Ambani is one of the highest,if not THE highest taxpayer in India,MY country...so unless you consider yourself more knowledgeable about India & Indians than an Indian himself,i suggest you mind your own business...
the question was not straight as you look at it! Sometimes you need to think deeper? And you should practice it more often before responding to me!
Okay, another one for you, "did he pay the right tax?"
Hello ... the person who photographed those people standing there....instead of advertising India's poverty you could have organised those people to clear out the rubble & then photograph the results of the effort ....like a before & after shot.....Then your criticism of those who earned riches would have some meaning....you too are just one of those exploiters ...you used their misfortune to get attention towards your post.....
you can take a horse to water....no one can make it drink...no point in criticising industrialists.....poor in India need to work hard & waste less to get ahead .
@ flor 1212,he has just built the most expensive house in THE WORLD & you're asking if he's paid the tax on it???...apply a little logic mate, what do you think?...do you think you could build the world's most expensive house ANYWHERE in the world & not pay the tax on it???...
@ shahana, don't you think he would have taken earthquakes into consideration when the house was designed & built???...
15 Dhirubhaism’s : Lessons by Dhirubhai Ambani:
http://blog.himanshusheth.net/2007/08/19/15-dhirubhaisms-lessons-by-dhirubhai/
To know and understand the thinking inside Dhirubhai's mind one has to see the movie "Guru".... based almost completely on his life....
.....in between there is a dialogue where he asks the share holders "do you want to become India's largest company?"
... in the end there is a dialogue asking the Whankede stadium full of people.... "do you want to become World's biggest comapny?".... which Reliance - the company is on a march to become.
Rony John, spot on! Great read!
What a strange world we live in....:/
... unless you are a Russian oligarch who has stolen his billions form his own people, or a Qatari who has become rich through an accident of geography coupled with archaic protection laws designed to stifle any kind of entrepaneurship (sp?)among foreigners unless the locals get a cut for doing sod all ........
However ... in the picture above, I notice most of those pictured are simply standing or sitting with their arms folded. No effort at all being made to move that pile of bricks and make the place look half decent.
If you have to live in a hovel, at least make an effort to tidy up now and then.
WK,absolutely valid comment...
There is no reason for others to get jealous of AMBANI's property and wealth that they have accumulated through their hard work and blessings from the people to whom they have employed in their industries...
AMBANIS have made INDIA proud...Stop criticizing them...Are they eyeing on your wealth that has been earned through your hardship??
Ambanis became rich due to their hard work, they were a poor family.. Why can't other poor families follow their lead and why do they wait for a benefactor.. Dhirubhai had no inherited property and the money he left behind has grown many folds since his death thanks to the hard work of Anil & Mukesh.. They employ hundreds of thousands and support their livelihood.. Entire cities have become developed because of Reliance's presence there. Stop criticizing every rich man with the stupid rhetoric, what has he done for the poor blah blah blah..
As for Earthquake, ya he spent 1.93 Billion Dollars and he will forget to put in the best possible protection against earth quakes..
poor becomes more n more poor... rich becomes richest....
did he pay his realty tax for this house?
There might be some truth in your story, analogy whatever..but what have the industrialists done to improve the lifes of people except to greed for wealth no matter how it comes. Indian conditions will not improve unless these ultra rich industrialists act generously in human development. Here is how some millins spend their lifes in mumbai:
what the hell...is there something the site admins can do here?
rightly said Slide but u should consider this too
Typical Indian story
Old Story:
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter. The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs dances plays the summer away. Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
New Indian Version:
The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer building its house and laying up supplies for the winter. The Grasshopper thinks the Ant's a fool and laughs dances plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
NDTV, BBC, CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering Grasshopper next to a video of the Ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
The World is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Arundhati Roy stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.
Medha Patkar goes on a fast along with other Grasshoppers demanding that Grasshoppers be relocated to warmer climates during winter .
Mayawati states this as 'injustice' done on Minorities.
Amnesty International and Koffi Annan criticize the Indian Government for not upholding the fundamental rights of the Grasshopper.
The Internet is flooded with online petitions seeking support to the Grasshopper (many promising Heaven & Everlasting Peace for prompt support as against the wrath of God for non-compliance)
Opposition MPs stage a walkout. Left parties call for 'Bengal Bandh' in West Bengal and Kerala demanding a Judicial Enquiry.
CPM in Kerala immediately passes a law preventing Ants from working hard in the heat so as to bring about equality of poverty among Ants and Grasshoppers.
Lalu Prasad allocates one free coach to Grasshoppers on all Indian Railway Trains, aptly named as the 'Grasshopper Rath'.
Finally, the Judicial Committee drafts the 'Prevention of Terrorism Against Grasshoppers Act'[POTAGA] , with effect from the beginning of the winter..
Arjun Singh makes 'Special Reservation' for Grasshoppers in Educational Institutions in Government Services.
The Ant is fined for failing to comply with POTAGA and having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, it's home is confiscated by the Government and handed over to the Grasshopper in a ceremony covered by NDTV, BBC, CNN.
Arundhati Roy calls it 'A Triumph of Justice'.
Lalu calls it 'Socialistic Justice'.
CPM calls it the 'Revolutionary Resurgence of the Downtrodden'
Koffi Annan invites the Grasshopper to address the UN General Assembly.
Many years later...
The Ant has since migrated to the US and set up a multi-billion dollar company in Silicon Valley.
100s of Grasshoppers still die of starvation despite reservation somewhere in India.
....AND
As a result of losing lot of hard working Ants and feeding the
grasshoppers, India is still a developing country...!!
...and to think that countless people are homeless... Guess he already got his reward on earth...
and by the way, shahana454 is absolutely correct! ;)
beware of "" earth quake ""
