Salary - Qatar vs Bahrain

Hello

I am new here and need some advice.

I was interviewed for a management consultany job in Qatar last week, and the salary range they mentioned was 18,000 - 20,000 inclusive of housing and other allowances. I am happy with the payscale and am waiting for the interview outcome.

I now have a telephone interview for a similar position in Bahrain with a different company. The salary range was not mentioned in the advert, and I want to be prepard for their question about my expectations, etc.

So please someone let me know as to how much salary in BHD would be equal to QAR - not just the exchange conversion, rather considering the cost of living in both countries, how much salary in Bahrain will be in par with QAR 18000 - 20000 - i.e. the point where I will be indifferent to both offers.

I would ask for more. In my experience all employers expect some negotiation. Perhaps you could request them to consider increasing it to say BD 1850 - 1900, and they may land at BD 1750 - 1800 if they could not afford losing you. QAR 18000 - 20000 is not bad either, so its your choice.

It seems that its such a low salary that nobody wants to comment. Please share your views... I need to get back to them on the salary bit before they move on to the second interview stage.

Ok just had the call. The standard salary they mentioned is approximately 1600 BHD inclusive of all allowances. Does this sound reasonable for Bahrain. I am married and have two kids, 5 years old daughter and just under one year old son.

Can someone also please suggest some property rental websites for Bahrain. I just need to see how much apartment rental costs per month. In addition, is there any discussion forum specifically for Bahrain similar to Qatar Living?

@ stanleyc_2004 - appreciate that cost of living is less in Bahrain, but any information about how this reflects on payscale.

Just out of interest why should one prefer Bahrain over Qatar? This is the feeling I got for a couple of responses here.

Worked in Bahrain for 3 years before coming here and now trying to get back. Just take that offer if they offer something in the same range.

Its something around BHD 2000. But Bahrain is bit cheaper(cost of living is less) than Qatar so you might not get same amount as pay scale for same job is different in both places.
